“Fell in love with this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2010

We arrived quite late in the evening, and Noreen was there to welcome us. Her clear directions meant we didn't have any problems finding the place.
I will never forget the feeling of waking up the next morning and looking out of the window to see the most amazing view of the estuary through the woods!
besides the amazing views, everything else is absolutely perfect as well! Noreen is an absolute pleasure: helpful and approachable, making sure all her guests are happy and able to give us hints and tips about places to go, pubs and what's the easiest route to somewhere. Our room was very clean, big and comfortable. The resident dog made the stay even more welcoming! The weather wasn't on our side, but I'm sure that the little terrace must be blissful on a sunny day!
The only bad thing about our visit was the moment we have to leave! Fell in love with the place and the area in general, and can't wait to get back there.

We stayed at The Waters Edge for 2 nights with our children and our parents. Our rooms were clean, spacious and welcoming. Noreen made us feel at home, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She was very accomodating to our kids, and they enjoyed playing with the dog outside and watching the DVD's that are supplied for the rooms. Waters Edge is just outside of Kenmare, tucked away on a hill that overlooks Kenmare Bay. The view was beautiful and our stay was very relaxing. We found Kenmare to be the perfect size town for us. It had plenty of places to eat, a few bakeries, gift shops and an Internet cafe. We loved our stay at The Waters Edgeand can't wait to go back-highly recommend!!

I was lucky enough to read about Watersedge in Rick Steves' 2009 Ireland guide. I could not have been happier. Located very conveniently just outside of the beautiful and picturesque town of Kenmare (a 10 minute walk in nice weather), Watersedge is a beautiful and spacious home run by Noreen O'Shea, who could not be nicer or more welcoming.

The room was fantastic, the breakfast room very welcoming and invitiing. And despite Noreen having a really busy morning on the day of our departure, she went out of her way to make us feel welcomed, and invited us to stay and relax at the house even after she left for the day. She was very anxious for us to feel well cared for.

Breakfast was terrific, and set us up nicely for a long day touring the Iveragh Peninsula/Ring of Kerry. Because of the ideal location of Watersedge, I'm hoping to return in the summer or fall of next year when I can spent more than one night. I can't recommend Watersedge too highly.

Kenmare is a small, easy-to-navigate town close to the Ring of Kerry, the Beara Peninsula, and Kilarney National Park (and Muckross House). Stay here and avoid the touristy atmosphere and crowds of Kilarney town. We especially enjoyed the Water's Edge B&B just outside Kenmare. The hostess is delightful and the facilities bright, cheery, clean, and comfortable. Did I mention reasonably priced? Especially nice here is the breakfast - with healthier options than most we found. Perched along the water, but in the trees, it's a beautiful, quiet location. We found a super bakery in Kenmare, for picking up picnic lunch items. The business district in Kenmare is small and convenient, and without the difficult parking found in many towns in Ireland.

Waters Edge is a nice B&B. Being purpose-built, there is plenty of room for guests and hosts. Our room was very spacious, with a comfortable ensuite; we also had a nice view of the bay from it, which was lovely. The service was nice and friendly, just like in most B&Bs around this part of Ireland. Breakfast was -again- good but nothing above what can be expected for this kind of accommodation. Tea and coffee were available to guests throughout the day, and so a selection of books and dvds. The location is very nice: tucked away on top of the Mucksna hill, the house has great views. It is not the most straightforward place to walk to in the dark, however. So if you are staying there in the Autumn/winter, i would recommend driving or calling a taxi into kenmare town, as the lane gets very dark. The B&B is about 2 km outside of Kenmare town. Overall, a good option.
