“Cedar Lodge - A Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

As a couple plus a friend we thoroughly enjoyed our 9 day stay at "Cedar Lodge". Anne Maybury the owner made us feel most comfortable and ensured that our stay was hassle free. "Cedar Lodge" is extremely well equipped, with all the comforts of "home". Although a little out of town, it is ideally located in a quiet area with beautiful views. The local wildlife even drop in for a visit. It is only a very short drive or taxi trip to the heart of Kenmare with all its restaurants and pubs. Although there were only three of us, the house would aslo suit a large family, group of friends.

A most enjoyable experience and excellent value.

We were on a two week hiking trip in Southern Ireland, with a group. The trails were at times a challenge. On our second week we stayed at Tara Farms B&B. A very delightful place to stay. While i was there,my brother died when climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, made the top. but passed away on the way down. With the very kind help from Anne & Shaughn Mayberry, I was able to change my flights etc. to be in the U.K for the funeral, Stayed for a week until I could fly back to Canada.

Tara Farm was so spcial, great scenery, wonderful room, with a view, great breakfast. Most of all great kindness. I left feeling I had a new family

Room Tip: choose the room with view, overlooking the fields.top floor.

I am reviewing Cedar Lodge which is a large four bedroom house located near the southern shore of Kenmare bay and owned by Anne Maybury. The house is situated in its own garden with private drive, gate access and plenty of parking.

All rooms are very large and include a well-equipped utility room, kitchen, sitting room, dining area, conservatory and twin bedroom downstairs. Three spacious bedrooms upstairs with either double or twin beds, which could be easily changed to doubles if required. All bedrooms apart from one have en-suite facilities.

The house is just a few minutes drive to the centre of Kenmare, which is a charming little town with some nice shops, an ice cream parlour, eateries, restaurants and bars.

There is so much to do in the area and as a family with three children, we spent time at the Star Sailing club (5 minutes from house) where you can hire Kayaks, sailing boats and pedlos and watch the seals in their natural habitat. Fantastic walks for either beginners, regulars, young or old, one of which is 170km around the ring of Kerry (we drove!) or head to the Killarney National Park where you can hire cycles for as little as 10 euro a day.

To this end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anne once again for letting us stay in her wonderful home and look forward to staying with you again next time we visit Ireland.

My daughter, son-in-law, husband and I took a ten-day self-guided tour of Ireland. We stayed at a different bed and breakfast each night. We agreed unanimously that Tara Farm was WONDERFUL! The rooms were spacious and had gorgeous views. The hostess, Anne, sat down with us and gave us valuable tips for our stay in Kenmare. The next morning she and her husband served up the best breakfast we had during our trip, all cooked to perfection. She was a super friendly hostess and made sure that we all felt at home. We highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to all travelers in Ireland!

The B&B is located next to Kenmare (5 min) in a nice garden with a breathtaking view to the coastline of the Beara peninsula. We had a good room with extra sofa and a small bathroom. The very kind lady of the house welcome us with tea and coffee and for reason of the very cold and bad weather (12 Celsius and continual rain) during our stay in July, she turned on the heating in our room and light the fire place in the breakfast room for us - great.

We loved this beautiful B&B in Kenmare. We enjoyed the half mile walk into town for dinner, passing lush fields with grazing sheep and quaint bridges. Ask for the "honeymoon room" which has a beautiful view of the river and sunset. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were welcoming. Kenmare is the perfect place to begin touring the Ring of Kerry. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the honeymoon room upstairs.
