Over many years my companions and I visit Kenmare more or less annually - which I suppose says a lot - people re-visit a place (and district) for one apparent reason - they enjoy their visit(s) on each occasion. Kenmare, to us represents a town and district, which has the innate ability to keep drawing people back to it. Each year, we invariably pay a (more or less) social visit (at this stage neither of us are 'serious' golfers) to the local Kenmare Golf Club - and are welcomed on each visit with the proverbial 'open-arms'. Likewise, the nearby Ring of Kerry Golf Club has given us similar treatment. Golf or no golf - without doubt, the conclusion to be reached here (and no doubt everywhere) is that it's the local people who effectively set the benchmark for a town/district etc. And Kenmare measures up to the best anywhere. Oh, by the way, the food options there ain't half bad either!
