I was reading other views and questioning people's choices/statements. This is a beautiful place, stunning. However, it should be a bit obvious that it is off the beaten path (a bit difficult to get to on a narrow road) and that hiking and true nature walks aren't ever appropriate for young children. This park is untouched land and you can roam as long as you, where ever you want. Of course some trails are difficult and wet (because it does rain daily in Ireland).
It only costs five euros per person and although it is smaller, we found the nature trails through the forests and near the river to be much better than Kilarney National Park. This park doesn't have the paths cleared out nice and neatly for families. It is for people who truly enjoy and appreciate nature. There isn't a souvenir store or a tourist trap here... so depending on what you are looking to do, what your interests are, and who you are traveling with, this may be the place for you.
The owner is an old woman who collects the fees as you approach the opening of the park. We had a driver taking us here and he chatted with the woman a bit. I read other reviews of this place and I think people forgot that we are vacationers/visitors in another country. Norms and expectations and even manners can be different. We found no problems with woman or with entry to the park.
