My girlfriend and I checked into the Bush Village Backpacker Resort in November last year as we made our way down the east coast of Oz.
The hostel was a great place to stay whilst in Airlie. The rooms were spacious and clean, with a shared lounge/kitchen area with the adjoining room so was a good chance to meet new people and a great place to eat in if you dont fancy going to a restaurant.
The resort is family run and everyone was really helplful and made you feel welcome from the moment the free shuttle bus picked us up at the Greyhound bus stop, to the moment we checked out.
Its location isnt the best compared to other hostels which are bang in the middle of town. Bush Village is a 20minute walk along a beautiful coastal walk, so for those of you who dont mind a stroll in the sun or under the stars and want to avoid being in amongst all the action, then Bush Village is perfect. And there is always the free shuttle bus in and out of town every couple of hours should you not fancy the walk anymore.
As for Airlie Beach, it was one of my favourite places in Australia. Its a small little town with everything happening along the one street where there are plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, and so on. We had an awesome drunken night in Mama Africa's! There is also a fantastic lagoon just behind the main street which makes up for a pretty average beach. Plus the town is the perfect stop off for the Whitsundays, where we had our second reef snorkel experience (with Whitsunday Express) and found the reef here was better than that at Cairns.
I recommend Airlie Beach and Bush Village Resort to everyone!!!!!!!!!!
