“No one like a train running under the hotel - especially me”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

I ended up on the 3rd floor of the train station. I was really surprised by how noisy the trains running under the building were. If you are a light sleeper then this isn't the place for you. The great view and nice rooms don't make up for the noise.

We feel thoroughly spoiled and relaxed after our stay here. Everything was above our expectations and we are so so happy :)
The food was fabulous, the bed really comfy. The view just spectacular! We will be staying there again!

Stayed one night for a game at the SGG. Great spot for access to city and game. Price is better value than across the bridge.
If you can get a room on the higher levels the train noise is ok and you can sleep. The view is a great bonus and a thing that everyone should see

Room Tip: Make sure as all other Reviewers state, Get a high level room

This hotel has a really central location, accessible by multiple modes of Public transport. I read past reviews relating to the Train Noise, and they are certainly not exaggerated sitting in the bar you feel the rumble of the trains below you,

I read the reviews and requested a higher level room as a condition of me staying ( if they didn't have a higher room I wouldn't stay) and I'm glad I did, they put me on the 11th floor and you still do hear trains, not as much, however if you are a very light sleeper (like me) either pack some ear plugs.

The beds were super comfortable, the rooms comfortable, new and clean, all staff were extremely friendly and the food (I only had a pizza) was very good. Again through, be warned the trains are loud!! But it's now my new "go to" hotel for North Sydney.

Room Tip: Level 7 or above, bring ear plugs, just in case it's still too much.

Upon first glance this is a fantastic hotel, and what luck I have a Harbour View room, wonderful. I did notice the train lines below going over the Sydney Harbour Bridge but didn't really take that much notice of it as they didn't seem outrageously noisy, In the evening though it is a different story. I think the whole of Syndey must be supplied by train. Every 5 minutes, literally, a train would come or go, travelling under the Hotel and making the room resonate with ear hurting bass, and just for good measure they would sound their horns just before going under the Hotel. they stop between the hours of 2am and 5am so you do manage to get 3 hours sleep. I checked out the next day and went somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT over the train lines, this will mean you probably won't get a Harbour View bu...

Very clean, nice location in North Sydney. Right near the train station (right over the tracks.) The staff are fantastic, the food is very good. The view over the harbour is really nice.

On the downside
- the trains. They are noisy, but if you are in a higher floor, you won't notice them.
- There is no fitness center, or pool. That's annoying.
- The beds are *way* too soft. You can ask for a firmer mattress, but in my case they put a board under the mattress to firm it up. It helped, but not a lot.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are better. The train runs right under the hotel, and is quite noticeable. Ask for a...

I can't understand the good reviews of this place. It has great views, sure, but that isn't everything, I look at the view for maybe 30secs each stay. The worst thing by far is the TERRIBLE noise of the train rumbling beneath you if you're in the bottom half of the hotel. From my sleepless nights I would say that the last train goes through about 1am, then resumes again at 4.20am, I'm not kidding. Despite the fact that my company uses this hotel for all interstate employees, I was placed on the lower floors 2 visits in a row & complained both times. I was moved eventually but by that stage my week was shot due to poor sleep. The rooms are nothing to write home about, & it is very expensive for what you get. The restaurant is pretty bad also. I'll be requesting an alternative hotel next trip to head office.

Room Tip: Request, nay, demand a room on the upper floors. Rooms numbered high (eg x7, x8, x9) also have less...
