Description: Placed on the white powdery sands of L'anse Aux Epines Beach, the Bash Restaurant by Mark B at the Calabash offers the perfect lunchtime setting. British chef Mark Banthorpe fell in love with the island's flavours, and this love lead him to create an exciting menu focused on Grenada's natural ingredients and spices. Lunch is served between 12 noon – 3pm and “tapas” bites and cocktails available from 10.30am – 6.30pm everyday.

“This new restaurant is a welcome addition to the Calabash”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

This was our third time at the Calabash, and previously we hadn't used the beach restaurant much due to its limited menu (although we are no strangers to the bar). This new addition, serving Tapas and other specialities, is perfect. One doesn't always want a huge meal in the middle of the day, so the option of a choice of tapas was perfect. Mark is a gifted chef, who will also try to accommodate any special requests for dishes not on the menu. The food is full of flavour, and his take on Caribbean specialities such as Oil Down is extremely authentic. The location is, of course, stunning, set on the Calabash beach, next to the cocktail bar. The only slight criticism is that the standard of service is not quite up to the levels we are used to at the Calabash, but I'm sure that will be addressed. I should point out that this is a lunch time only restaurant, but it complements the evening elegance of the Rhodes Restaurant.

“Wonderful food in a great setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

During our two-week stay on Grenada, we had intended to try out lots of different restaurants, but after discovering this wonderful restaurant on the beach at the Calabash Hotel, we ate there pretty much every lunchtime (pity it isn't open in the evenings!). The location is perfect - right on the beach with the hotel gardens behind you, the staff are lovely - friendly, always ready to share a joke, and very keen to be sure you have everything you want, and the food is quite simply superb. We both travel extensively on business and are lucky enough to eat in a lot of great restaurants around the world, but rated the food here as matching the best we've had. The tapas choices are ideal at lunchtime, the lobster was sublime, and although we don't usually 'do dessert', having sampled Mark's cheescake, that habit was quickly changed! Hoping to make it back to Grenada before too long, and first stop will definitely be the Bash Restaurant.

“Much more than a beach bar!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I visited Bash Restaurant the first day I arrived in Grenada in December. When we got there it was very busy, but a lovely woman directed us towards the bar for a short while until a table was free. While at the bar, I couldn't help notice how perfectly situated Bash restaurant is in the little bay. It allows you to look out onto the crystal clear Caribbean Sea while enjoying whatever beverage that takes your fancy. The only thing that could and did make this already amazing situation better was the food! I had the grilled catch of the day on a deliciously dressed salad. It simply melted in my mouth leaving me with little explosions of flavour. But on looking up I realised it was definitely not just me that was intensely engrossed in their meal. The service was fantastic, food coming shortly after ordering and very fresh! Furthermore, the staff are very friendly, helpful and kind. After lunch we sat down with a few Caribs and felt the warm sand between our toes while we looked out on the breathtaking view. I am pretty sure that the Bash restaurant experience is probably one of the most perfect ways to start anyone's holiday!

“The Perfect Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Due to a full house on the day we went, Mark kindly set us up on a table on the beach...squishing my toes in the sand, being that much closer to the ocean and adequately shaded under a coconut tree? - no complaints there! Knowing we had a later lunch engagement, we opted to try the tapas. It was extremely hard to discipline ourselves to take one each as they all sounded sooo delicious! but we decided on the garlic shrimp, callaloo quiche and the salt fish fritters with aioli dip....they left us craving more! The quiche was my favourite...anything to do with callaloo really, must taste good. Our rum punch and pina colada were very mouth-watering and good compliments to the food and ambiance, and the friendliness of the staff made me feel that much more relaxed. After the bite we had a refreshing dip in the calm sea...a great end to the short visit which was well worth it!

“Beach Bar with a difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

If your looking for a casual beach restaurant setting for an afternoon bite then Bash restaurant is your place. The Tapas menu is a winner and is the best I've had on the island, especially for such a good price. Grab one of their special rum mixes or a cold carib at the bar and relax on the beach after your meal.
