“Gem in the mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Lida and Piet warmly welcomed us as we unexpectedly arrived cold and tired in the middle of a long weekend. A true farm house on a sheep farm. The room was comfortable and WARM, she has both panel heater and aircon. Our old Jack Russel was spoilt and most welcome, Lida even insisted she come to the dining room with us.

Many thoughtful touches warms the heart. We sat outside on our own patio enjoying the quiet twilight chill, with the knee blankets and the stars for company.

Come early and stay for a couple of nights!

Room Tip: From Ladismith there is a well posted sign, indicating Left 8km and Right 20km... Go left... It'...

Nestled between the mountains close to the picturesque Ladysmith in the Klein Karoo this lovely guest farm provides a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable accommodation, delicious meals and breath taking scenery in which one gets rid of your travel fatigue and find time to settle down and enjoy nature with your loved ones.

Piet and Lida are excellent hosts and makes you feel welcome on their farm.

The property is situated close to many other attractions like Seweweekspoort, Ladismith cheese factory and wine cellars as well as Calitzdorp warm water springs.

Remarkable spot - nice remote location with fabulous views and a real country retreat. Dinner is strongly recommended and for me was very memorable - especially the hearty soup on a cold winter's night. Our room had a great rustic feel to it. The opportunities for star gazing were superb.

Absolutely delicious dinner, highlighted by a mouthwatering rump steak. Slept well, too. Very peaceful spot, well signposted from Ladismith. Arrived late and left after breakfast so only had a short time to enjoy the place.

Quiet b&b set on an unmade mountain road c 8km above Ladismith, amid stunning scenery. Friendly hosts. Cosy but slightly old fashioned feel with animal skins on the floors. No wifi due to remoteness. Dinner unmemorable and wine not great but good breakfast with home made muffins. Slightly more expensive than other b&bs we stayed at outside Cape Town. Tip – signed from church in town.

On our arrival we had a very warm welcome from Lida. The beautiful garden, comfortable room and relaxed atmosphere immediately made us feel at home. Dinner was something special and we really felt like royalty, being served in such a friendly way by Piet and Lida. Breakfast was equally good.

This was one of our better experiences all over the world. Excellent value for money. We can strongly recommend the Ladismith Country House.
