We have recently returned from our second visit to Swinton Park, albeit the first was 10 years ago for another birthday.
My husband decided to treat me and booked Swinton Park for my next big birthday. The standard has not slipped one bit and the hotel is still as amazing as ever. We arrived on a snowy morning and it was so picturesque. Although our room was not ready we were allowed to check in, leave our luggage and opted to have some lunch in the drawing room. This in itself is the most beautiful room and feels like a scene out of Downton Abbey.
Our room was beautiful and just like our last visit, we opted once again to stay in the Wensleydale Suite.
We had a lovely 7 course taster menu in Samuels with wine to accompany the meal. The staff are so attentive and everyone is made to feel special. The food was lovely and we were rather full on leaving the restaurant as well as a bit tipsy.
We spent some time exploring the grounds around the hotel which are very well sign posted and the wintery conditions just made it beautiful. We also enjoyed seeing the birds of prey.
It feels like every little thing is thought of in this hotel, there are outdoor coats, wellies, children's bikes in the boot room all for guests to borrow.
Although we enjoyed this experience as a couple, we would love to take the children up for the day just to enjoy the grounds and have a spot of lunch or afternoon tea in the drawing room. The overnight stays we will keep to just us two!!
I also had some beauty treatments whilst at the hotel and the staff were delightful. Overall, all the staff we encountered were a delight, attentive, nothing to much trouble and ensuring that everything was ok at all times.
I can not recommend this hotel enough, it actually felt more like home to us with the extravagance of a stately home than a hotel. I just hope that I dont have to wait a further 10 years to return!! Waking up on my birthday at Swinton Park really made my birthday this year and one I wont forget!!!
