“A Real Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Mickely B&B was a great find. Our first priority had to be that the B&B was dog-friendly, then we looked at the accommodation and reviews - and they were glowing; we were not disappointed!
Don't be deceived when you arrive ... Highbank Cottage might appear to be modest in size, but it is really like a tardis with large, beautifully proportioned rooms. As other reviewers have said, Libs was very welcoming and our rooms delightful - we really couldn't think of anything that would have made our stay better. Thank you, Libs.

We stayed at this B & B for two nights from 30th August to 1st September. Libs the owner is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for her. The rooms were clean and the beds so cumfy. There was everything you needed, there is no need to take towels soap or even an hair dryer as everything was in your room, even dressing gowns. We just had breakfast you could have what you wanted and it was prepared for you for the time you asked for, and it was very good.
We will be going back there next year and taking our dog Tess with us.

This is a wonderful B&B in a delightful village. The whole house is spotless & Libs cooks a mean/huge breakfast (you might even get to sample some delicious homemade soda bread). We were made to feel most welcome (nothing was too much trouble & we were invited to enjoy the use of the large & bautifully appointed sitting room) & it's in a great location (there is so much to see & do on the doorstep). The bathroom housed a very powerful shower, clean white fluffy big towels (who wants to try & wrap a medium sized towel round their body!) & an amazing selection of toiletries. We particularly liked the little touches such as coming home to find the duvet corners partially folded back on our beds & the bedside lights switched on in the room. It was extremely quiet too & we slept so soundly!! Looking forward to going back again sometime soon....

Room Tip: The "Amber suite" is much bigger but if you just want a base then go for the "Blue ro...

What a wonderful place to stay. Even before we arrived Libbs the owner was very attentive with emails etc. On arrrival the welcome was warm and friendly. Libbs our hostess was delightful. We were staying for three nights in the "Amber Suite". The room was beyond our expectations (we have done a lot of BnB's)The room was en suite with it's own sitting room/dressing room,iI was all the extra's in the room including a vase of fresh flowers, a lovly touch. The bed was clean and comfortble and we had some of the best nights sleep we have had in a long while. The breakfast was wonderful. Greed got the better of us on the first morning and kept us going most of the day.But each night we filled in our breakfast menu for the next morning and we got what we ordered. We also booked an evening meal for the Sunday night. I cannot remember the last time my husband and I had a candlelit meal. The meal was excellent and very much enjoyed. Libbs was very much on hand during the weekend checking that we were ok, offering tea and even wine. It was a very relaxing couple of days and we cannot wait to go back.

Our stay at Mickley Bed and Breakfast was unforgettable. The house is lovely, as are the bedrooms and the sitting room (open for guests). The full English breakfast was delicious. Thanks to Libs Brownlow for her warm welcome (and for the nice glass of wine we shared at our arrival). We would have liked to stay longer !
