Had booked for a meal a couple of weeks before for when visiting Ripon for the day. The staff had written our name and the time of our booking on a slate on the table set aside for us. We thought this was a very nice touch. The table was in a conservatory that is directly at the side of the River Skell with just a path in between. An enjoyable outlook to have whilst eating a meal. The food was very well prepared and presented. The service was impeccable and friendly. This is not a flashy establishment. It is a public house with food also available. The menu is mostly traditional fayre but with a couple of surprising options such as chicken and haddock salads with excellent mixed vegetable components. It was a good and enjoyable experience and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
