Beautiful place - can imagine myself living therein the 1500s! Super visit and gardens are spectacular - especially enjoyed the 'Mother Orchard'!

“My favourite National Trust property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

I love Cotehele and visit it often. It has the beautiful house which includes the original great hall, expanded in the Tudor style and a charming chapel. It is steeped in history. The grounds are beautiful at any time of year from spring through summer and Autumn to December, when a bracing walk up from Cotehele Quay can be followed by warming interlude by the open fire in the great hall, which is always decorated in the traditional style, with huge central garland made from dried foliage and flowers from the gardens. There are charming cottages available for holiday rentals, some within the original old building in a charming courtyard. The tea room serves delicious cakes etc and down on the quay, coffee and light lunches are served in the converted old pub. There is so much to experience at Cotehele, including the old mill. It is well worth a visit.

“National Trust at its best.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

As my review title suggests, this is one of the best kept and well presented of the National Trust properties I have visited. On my visit we were made very welcome and treated as valued visitors. The house and grounds were immaculate in every respect. As a member of National Trust, I can highly recommend a visit you are in the area.

A lovely place to Visit any time of the year, Its like walking back in time to Tudor England. Great walks down to the river and around the the gardens.
It also has a very good gift shop with friendly staff and a coffee/tea room with light snacks.
