“Afternoon tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

After reading some not so good reviews we decided that as we had already bought a deal through Amazon to go ahead and form our own opinions. We went not expecting much but were very pleasantly surprised! we were greeted in a friendly pleasant manner and asked to choose where we would like to sit.
We were then brought a very well chilled glass of prosecco and our tea swiftly followed. Now there have been some reports of sandwiches being "torn into three pieces". NOT TRUE!
We were given a selection of sandwiches, cheese, tuna, ham and cucumber.
Then a cake stand with fruit cake, flapjack, brownie ( which was delicious and was home made)
and a lovely scone with jam and cream. The coffee was also of a good quality.
All in all a great experience. thank you. Would not hesitate to return even though I couldn't eat another thing today!

“Rubbish Afternoon Tea”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

My wife and I were bought an afternoon Tea voucher for my birthday. This was the worst eating experience of our lives. The sandwiches had obviously been pre made at least an hour before causing the cheese sandwich to become hard and crusty. We had a scone each which were the smallest scones we have ever seen. The cream was out of an aerosol can (when they advertise clotted cream teas'. We have never had a 'cream tea' with a flapjack as one of the cakes before. We had to ask for a pot of tea as no one came near us when we were sat down. We were 'parked' in the crèche area of a cold miserable room with no one else around. No tablecloth. The toilets were almost falling down and in bad need of repair. Our advice is not to take any notice of the photos on their web site as they do not compare to reality.

“Enjoyable evening meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

We were staying in the hotel (which I would also review if this page wasn't just for the restaurant). Seated in the plusher restaurant area, very friendly staff, good menu. Started with garlic bread which was dreamy. I had a 28 day old Derbyshire steak with mushrooms and pepper sauce, which was excellent; my wife had a lovely chicken salad; our son had scampi and chips, which were over-done and he'd have liked some peas with it. Nice pint of Cromford ale. Hot desserts. Can't say it was extra-special, but I think it's not sure whether it's a restaurant or a pub. (The room, and breakfast, were fine).

“Excellent service - excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

While staying in the hotel, we ate here twice (not counting breakfasts).

The service was very friendly and the choice was superb. Potions were large and tasty - the chips were outstanding, amongst the best we have ever had in a restaurant.

There was a good mix of main-line dishes and the more unusual.

One of us was a vegetarian and she also felt that she had been well catered for which doesn't always happen.

We would definitely eat here again if we were in the area.

“Good food, nice clean rooms, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Recently spent 2 nights in the Greyhound Inn, to explore the local area. Family of four, in one of the family rooms.
Got the room a little cheaper than advertised through late rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful, good food, clean well kept rooms. Would use again.
