“Lovely lunch and helpful service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We visited the Farm shop restaurant last week. We were a party of 5 adults plus a 6month old baby in a buggy. Despite arriving at 1pm when they were extremely busy a smiling waitress sorted out a table for us quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food and service were both excellent and, when I inadvertently had a coughing fit, a glass of water materialised without anyone having to ask. We were thoroughly impressed. The portions were generous and tasty.
It was an excellent lunch and we will certainly return.

“Terribly British !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

This establishment - shop and restaurant - be well worth visiting.
The shop stocks much fine produce - both local and further afield - not least ales !
But, be warned...
The restaurant offers much fine fayre also, but, not alcohol - unless you also purchase food ! A cream tea for two was not enough to allow the waitress to serve us any alcoholic beverage. Settled for Earl Grey instead !

“A meal with a view.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

My wife and I were visiting Chatsworth Farm Shop and decided to have lunch in the restaurant. We were soon shown to our table by a friendly staff member and were happy right away, the glass wall ensures everyone has a meal with a view.

We ate hot Derbyshire oatcakes filled with cheese and ham served with a decent salad and crisps. A huge pot of tasty tea with three cups each finished our lunch off nicely. All served with a smile too.

What more can I say? I cannot fault anything, even the whole fleeces hanging above our heads, which I assume were acoustic panels, made me smile. what else would you expect in the Peaks?

The food is quality and good value for money. The restaurant is comfortable and clean. Just one thing to be aware of in bad weather, the toilets are in a seperate building a few yards away.

“Quality food and drink”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We visited for a coffee one afternoon, and were impressed enough for afternoon tea a few days later. Staff are friendly and polite, you wait at the entrance to be shown to your table, but despite turning up at busy times we didn't have long to wait on either visit.

Service was prompt, and delivered with a smile. Lattes and mochas taste really lovely, and the cream teas are one of the best we've tried, and we've tried a LOT of cream teas. The scones are fabulous and the clotted cream is very generous.

We will return for a proper meal, as the menu was very reasonably priced, and all meals being served looked and smelt delicious, if we hadn't eaten lunch before we arrived we would have indulged.

“Birthday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We have been to this restaurant many times & have never been disappointed. My partner chose it for lunch on his birthday. We arrived around 12.15 & were lucky to be shown a table without having to wait. I'm not sure whether the fact you can't book here is good or bad. The staff work very hard & clear the tables immediately they are vacant, which means you have no empty tables waiting for people to turn up for their bookings, but if you arrive at peak lunch time you may have to queue. Since we last visited they have changed the entrance by putting doors on a very breezy entrance walk & moved the position of the door .We also noticed they now have a large shelving unit with gateaux, cold sweets etc on. The menu as usual was very comprehensive & 2 of us chose the roast lamb, my partner had a pie. There was plenty of lamb, 3 veg & 2 sorts of potato aswell as yorkshire pud- all well cooked & delicious. The pie which was really full of meat defeated my partner, however (typical man !) he did manage a dessert, bread & butter pudding, again lots of choice for the hot puds. The staff were most efficient & friendly & we were checked that we were happy with our lunch. Unfortunately they did not have any sugar free drinks, only a minor criticism. I would not describe the food as expensive. it's good quality, you get waitress service an unrushed meal & wonderful views. The roast we had was actually only £3 more than the one at the Toby Carvery. Despite it being quite a long drive for us, but at least a very pleasant one travelling through the park, we shall go again.
