“Scrumpdiddlyumptious!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

We visited the bistro this morning after a night in Bakewell. Id read previous reviews and had to visit. I was not disappointed! I had hot chocolate & my partner a coffee, followed by homemade chunky toasted bread. Delish! I bought a brownie & hot chocolate spoons home, have had them & they were yummy. I had to write a review as its rare to find such a gem of a place, i only wished i lived in Bakewell so i could visit every day!! Lovely, friendly staff and a great little cafe packed full of treats. Its a credit to Bakewell. Lovely jubbly!! Xx

“Dieters beware!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

This is pure chocolate heaven - if you are watching your weight....tough, you'll miss a treat if you fail to indulge yourself ! You can have anything you like,as long as it's chocolate - all made on the premises.....the choc drinks ( or soups) are mouth-wateringly thick and glossy. Have a look at the wonderful chocolate shapes...shoes, golf balls and ( as it was near Easter when we visited) glorious Easter eggs etc. Turn right up King Street, just round from the Rutland Hotel........it's just on your right up the hill.

“Nice cafe”

Lovely pot of tea for a reasonable price. Derbyshire Oakcake Wrap is highly recommended and there is plenty of seating upstairs.

“A real gem of a Restaurant/ Bistro in Bakewell”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

Having cycled in nearby Hassop earlier in day, my wife & I decided to have a late Lunch in Bakewell. We happened on this Bistro b chance, and welcomed in and sat in the warm and cosy atmosphere upstairs. We were hungry enough to have a starter of Spicy Lentil and Carrot soup that was accompanied by Freshly baked bread. It was simply one of the nicest Soups we had tasted. The mains of toasted ciabattas were just as nice, with the caramelised red onion a great addition to the melted cheese. Hollie, th chef, was warm, pleasant and catered for all our needs. She, along with all the other staff clearly take great pride in the food they produce, and in the service they provide. Hollie was a sheer delight, and the range of food is amazing, especially the deserts. My wife tried their traditional Bakewell Tart, and was very impressed. Definite recommend this Restaurant.

“Lovely food and welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

We stumbled across this cafe today and sat in the sunny, sheltered courtyard to enjoy our delicious lunch. The food was fantastic as was the coffee. The cafe is delightful inside too and the cakes and chocolates looked amazing (such a shame it was lent!). The staff were welcoming. I think this will become our regular haunt when in Bakewell.
