“What a Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2014

Well what a find this restaurant is, great interesting food with ample portions.

The service from our waitress Leica was superb,

The food was hot, interesting and above all after walking and walking for miles in the wonderful countryside GREAT portion size, the chips were to die for.... Reasonably priced too.

A must visit if you are staying in Bakewell.

“Good food, nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

I went with a couple of other people. This pub restaurant was nicely furnished in dark oak and gave the impression of a well maintained establishment. The food was tasty and reasonable portions. I tried my standard tester dish for a location I've not tried before, namely chicken madras curry. The sauce was freshly cooked and the chicken had been cooked from scratch. It was not too spicy to eat and the flavour came through quite well. It was a little bit too salty for my palate, but even so enjoyable. My companions enjoyed their food. The food took 15-20 minutes to arrive, but as indicated on the menu each meal is cooked from fresh. The pub has a reasonable range of good beers.

thepeacockbakewell, As Charles says - it's Good Food with a Nice Atmosphere, at The Peacock, responded to this review, May 27, 2014
Now Charles S is a hard man to please, as he is yet to give a 5 star review - so the compliments he gives the Peacock are not to be ignored, and we thank you Charles, but I can assure you Charles you'll be hard pushed to find a better curry in Derbyshire, and that includes all the good curry houses....

“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

I used to work in Bakewell, many moons ago. For some reason I have never thought about visiting the Peacock. I have to say how surprised I was at the excellent quality of the food on offer. The service was excellent. Many thanks.

Maybe Andrew076 left it late to find out what a Great Place the Peacock in Bakewell is, but now he knows it won't be long iI feel before he finds us again - especially as he was a Bakewell Lad....

Many Thanks for the nice review - and for finally trying us out!

“Fantastic food, warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

Called here last weekend for lunch. Very large menu, something to suit everyone. The premises were very clean and had an olde world charm. The menu prices Were very acceptable. The service was swift and friendly. I eat out on average around 4 lunchtimes per week, my choices of food are many and varied. Whenever in the future I find myself within 15 miles of bakewell at lunchtime this is the venue I will undoubtedly choose for lunch. Very satisfied and eager to return.

“8 happy customers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Eight of us booked for Sunday lunch and all of us thought it was very good in every respect. The roasts were good and the steak & ale pie got a huge thumbs up.
