“nice place with rude guide”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Fascinating place, however it seemed like you could only go into about half of it. The visit was spoiled though - we had been directed the 'wrong way round' No prob with this - it happens

The second guide (older woman) was adamant to the point of rudeness that we had already seen a couple of rooms and. After a short argument she shrugged her shoulders, said 'do what you want' and walked off. Pity really as the other guides seemed ok and helpful.

“Fascinating houses”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013 via mobile

Really enjoyable day meandering round the old and "new" houses and grounds. Excellent customer service and everything well presented. Don't miss the free audio which really brought to life the old ruins with commentary and character story telling

“An excellent National Trust Property”

We always enjoy our visit to Hardwick Hall. The gardens are very pleasant and the catering facilities equally enjoyable.

“take the family and visit the past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This hall and grounds are both worth a visit with the family we all went in September and had a great day out, although you could spend many days wondering around and still something new to see.

“hidden treasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Although visible from and within easy reach of the M1 this very historic and lovely building or buildings as the old hall is also there doesn't seem to get the appreciation it deserves. There is plenty to see and takes one back in time .Although not quite as grand as its larger more ornate neighbour belonging with the Devonshire history it is well worth a visit and a walk through the park and or gardens worthwhile and essential to help build up an appetite whether to visit the restaurant or to go to the Hardwick Inn on the way out of the park itself .
