My husband and I visited the Flemish Weaver for Sunday Lunch a couple of weeks ago, and one evening later that week we returned just for a couple of drinks.
The Sunday lunch was excellent. It was a generous portion, served up quickly, and on a hot plate. So many places these days serve meals on cold plates and this spoils even the best of dishes. It was also excellent value for money compared with some other places we check out in Corsham.
Talking with a few regular diners, we were told the food is always of a fine standard, and in addition to their "Traditional Sunday Lunch" they have a "Curry Night" each Tuesday evening. With a good choice of curries plus a pint of beer for about £7 this is a bargain. On Wednesday & Saturday evenings they have a "Steak Night" special offer, which again, regulars told us is excellent quality steaks cooked to perfection.
When we returned to the pub during the week for a drink, it was bustling with locals who made us feel most welcome. There were young, middle-aged, and more mature people in the bar, all with a super sense of humour, and some who were extremely knowledgeable were chatting over the news of the day.
There was a great atmosphere and a warm log fire which added to the ambiance. I started with a coffee which although brewed by a new coffee machine was really first class. There is the usual range of wines and spirits available, with a good selection of real ales, lagers, and ciders. All in all a great place centrally located in Corsham.
I understand that until recently the pub was operated by two ladies, Karen and Becky, but a few weeks ago Karen moved to pastures new and Becky is now in sole command. She really is doing a fine job, and with Liam, her Super-Chef son, the Flemish Weaver is definitely on the up and up. Well done Becky !.
