What a delightful home, tastefully decorated. We stayed midweek for 3 nights in room 3, which had a large and very comfortable four poster bed, and huge ensuite bathroom. High standard of bedding provided. The owners were most helpful and charming, and served delicious huge breakfasts. Liked the guests comfortable sitting room, with menus provided for local eateries.

We booked Clifton house for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary celebration, in total we were 10 adults and three children and we found the venue to be absolutely perfect. Jan and John, the husband and wife team who own and run Clifton House, were extremely helpful, hospitable and clearly place great emphasis on getting things exactly right, down to the smallest detail. As we visited over Christmas we had the benefit of some festive decorations, but I have no doubt it would be a pleasure to stay at Clifton House at any time of year. I've stayed in many 5 star hotels all over the world, and I would rate the experience at Clifton House alongside some of those. In addition to the high quality rooms (with lovely bedding!) we enjoyed a tasty and very reasonably priced three course dinner in the evening, and a hearty home-cooked breakfast the following morning. The renovation has been tastefully completed and I would recommend Clifton House for groups looking for a really special venue or for individuls/couples looking for a unique hotel in the area that has a lot more to offer than many chains. The master bedroom by the way is absolutley fantastic!

A very superior B & B with excellent accommodation and every possible requirement catered for. The host and hostess are extremely pleasant and made us feel completely at home. The breakfast was quite outstanding with som of the best bacon tasted for a long time.

Being located on the Bath side of Bradford on Avon it is very conveniently situated for visiting that city and if one does not wish to drive there is a bus stop right outside Clifton House. For evening meals there is an excellent pub just across the road.

We stayed at Clifton House for 3 nights for a mid week half term break.

The House itself is stunning and we recieved a warm welcome despite ariving an hour early! Our room was beautifully appointed; we especially appreciated the flat screen TV and the superb four-poster bed!

Breakfast was beyond reproach – both cooked and non-cooked options delicious and served with a smile! You certainly wont go hungry!

In terms of local places to eat the Castle Inn is only 100 yards or so from the lodge and serves lovely food and has a decent range of real ales. We would also recommend No 25 in town which offered good food in modern surroundings for very reasonable prices.

The lodge is brilliantly located for public transport with a bus stop directly outside the building and good rail links from the rail station at the bottom of town, we only used the car once after we had arrived.

The only potential issue to be aware of is that the main road does run down the side of one of the faces of the building so if you struggle to sleep through traffic noise then you would do well specify a room that isn’t on the road side of the building.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the whole experience never felt less than special and we would definitely recommend the Clifton House to anyone looking to stay in the area.
