“Always open!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Being right by the Avon & Kennet towpath there is a constant stream of passers by even if you just fancy a cup of coffee. Nothing is too much trouble all sorts of meals served. Recommend Toodle Pip cider!

“Great pub in a stunning location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We visited this pub while on a boating holiday. Very friendly staff and locals who made us and our dog very welcome. Good food, beer and wine, stunning location - we liked it so much we went back the next day. Despite the wind and rain a very cosy place to spend a couple of evenings. Thank you!

“I love this pub.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

I have been to this pub about three times now and love the place and the beer they serve there. We took some friends there recently and had a meal which was top notch. Not easy to get to by car due to the single track road.

“Low quality food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

A beautiful spot and building, but the beer was badly kept and the food was of awful quality, poorly prepared. I only had a burger and chips but it was low grade frozen burger meat with a stale bun and the frozen chips were undercooked. The prices were still what you'd expect to pay for fresh ingredients though. Maybe if you're going just pop in for a lemonade or a cup of tea on a sunny day.

“Enough with the yelling waitresses!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

This pub is in a stunning location where canal and river meet, it is beautiful to sit outside on a suuny day at one of the many tables by the waters edge. But the whole atmosphere is ruined at times by the poor waitresses who are made to yell out food order numbers at the top of their voices, over and over again. People are trying to enjoy a drink or meal only to be deaffened by the repeated shouts - the poor customers have to then walk up the steps and collect their own food, sometimes making 2 trips!!

Who is running this place? Have they not heard of numbering the tables and delivering the food to the customer? This would totally eradicate the need for all the yelling and save their poor throats!

There is only one ladies toilet, outside, and it was filthy.

What a shame as, with decent facilities and a proper waitress service (without yelling), it would be splendid.
