“Very Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We have just returned from a weekend break at Center Parcs (5 - 8 April) I was a little concerned that it might be overcrowded due to the school holiday period however I was pleasantly surprised. At Longleat the two main areas are a short distance away from each other so this helps to spread the volume of people. I found all the staff that we came into contact with very helpful and friendly. We ate at Café Rouge and The Pancake House. Both restaurants provided excellent value for money and the staff were very attentive. We stayed in Maple 926 which was a short distance from the pool area. Another relaxing and enjoyable stay with glorious sunshine!!

Room Tip: I use to stay in the villa with the hot tub but they are further away from the pool complex. I also...

Just returned from a Friday to Monday break at Longleat with our 6 year old twins and had a fabulous time. I was worried beforehand having read so many negative reviews about Longleat but we could hardly fault it. It wasn't cheap at £750 for 3 nights but we found our 2 bed Exec chalet fabulous with a great location near to the Plaza (289) but still really peaceful - and came with our own family of friendly ducks! Didn't realise we had maid service or a spa bath either so that was a nice surprise and our sons loved the luxury of having their own TV in their bedrom. I probably wouldn't bother with the 'bike treasure trail' again but we all loved cycling round in the traffic free site which was great for the boys to improve their confidence, though it is pretty hilly. Loved the pool area too. Eating out was quite pricey for what it was but we found the shop similarly priced to local Convenience stores and had a good selection. We took a lot of our own food but would probably buy there next time. Overall had a great 3 days and were sad to leave. Visited Longleat Safari park on our way home which I can also highly recommend. Can't wait to go back once we've saved up!

Room Tip: 2 bed Exec well positioned near everything but quiet. Researched location & paid slightly more...

We haven't been to longleat for about 7 years with our boys aged 10 and 8 now and it was a pleasure to take them back and for them to be free in the pool and enjoy the CP experience. It really is a great break for kids of all ages. Our accommodation was Oak 450 and was clean and well placed for the Jardin des Sports and the Land train if required - although its a great walk up to the pool and not that long when there's no time constraints. We spent most of our time in the pool because we love it, the boys can do their own thing and its free - which is always a consideration after paying school holiday prices to stay! We also found that on the changeover day certain meals in the Jardin are 2 for 1 so we all had adult size scampi and chips for £20 on the first evening - and it was lovely - bargain! Of course paying £35 the following day for 4 small pancakes and 4 drinks in the Pancake house made up for it but that's CP and you can't win them all! It was a great break and I'm sure well go back again in a couple of years - it really is the best pool experience for this country.

Room Tip: If you want to do lots of sports or chill in the Jardin don't assume that having a lodge near to...

Oh dear Center Parcs your standards have slipped considerably since we were here last as a family over seven years ago. We booked a two bedroomed Woodland Lodge in the Pine area and paid £752.00 for Friday to Monday (5-8 April 2013). Firstly we were greeted by the local wildlife - ants in the kitchen and along the skirting boards in the dining/living area. We quickly phoned guest services and a very polite man arrived armed with ant killing gel and spray (thankfully our children are not crawling anymore otherwise we would have had to have been moved). The carpets and rug were dirty and stained (they should get rid of them, it is an outdoor place, keep it clean with no soft furnishings on the floor). The toilets smelt of urine and there was mould in the sealant of the bathroom - bleach and a monthly steam clean on the floor would sort that out. Beds were comfortable, and linen clean. The changing area for the swimming pool is confusing, with a distinct lack of staff and showers that work. All in all it is a great place to stay as a family, but you get a sense that they have become VERY complacent because there is nothing else that compares - what a shame.

Room Tip: If you want to be near the swimming pool/plaza, it is worth paying the extra to be closer to it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and observations on your stay.

I would like to assure you that we do not intend to become complacent and do review all comments made by our guest either directly to us or through social media sites such as Trip Advisor.

As I am sure you will appreciate our accommodation does experience a fair amount of wear and tear, with this in mind we do have a rolling refurbishment programme, however the accommodation should always be maintained to an acceptable standard at all times and I am very sorry that your expectations were not met on this visit.

Just have just arrived back from a weekend break in Centre Parcs Longleat with our two granddaughters aged 7 & 11. This was our first visit to Centre Parcs and, after reading some negative feedback, I was very apprehensive about going. How wrong could have been!
From the moment we arrived all went well. We picked up the hire bikes and spent a couple of hours exploring. There was plenty to see and the girls could not wait to use the pool.
We stayed in 55 Redwood Apartments which was situated close to all amenities. The apartment was lovely and very clean with plenty of room for the four of us. We turned away our daily maid service as we managed the beds etc., ourselves.
The girls loved the pool so we spent the majority of our time between the pool & cycling. We did visit the lake on Sunday morning and hired a pedalo. When we were back on dry land we bought some food to feed the fish. It was a feeding frenzy! They were jumping out of the water!
My only word of warning is to check the prices if you are eating out. Hucks Diner added 20% VAT onto our bill. We also ate in the Pancake House, but checked first that there were no hidden extras!
However this has not put us off from returning. We would definitely go to Centre Parcs again.

As the title suggests, this was myself & my husbands first ever break to Center Parcs. We had debated for a while whether to try it out as we only live 25 mins away but were initially put off visiting by some of the people we encountered on their Facebook page who came across as cyber bullies/keyboard warriors. Having put off a visit for a few years we decided to take the plunge for a weekend break Fri 5 - Mon 8 April 2013 just the two of us, leaving our son with the grandparents so we could decide if it would be suitable for a family break at a later date.

Having done some research online we booked a 1 bedroom New Style Executive "lodge" on the assumption that the more expensive "lodge" would be detached and not look like the basic cheap & nasty portacabin style chalets we had seen on the website...wrong!!! First impressions of our "Lodge" was grim :( it was basically an end of terrace portacabin with some "executive" wood cladding!!! Inside the portacabin accommodation appeared to be nicely decorated, spacious & well designed but on further inspection was very tired & run down and hadn't been cleaned very well. There was evidence of bodged DIY jobs throughout, an unpleasant drain smell in the bathroom and the floors hadnt been hoovered. The view at the rear was lovely overlooking the pond and the wildlife we saw was amazing (see photos) however we were surrounded by other portacabins which seemed to be crammed in everywhere making the forest look ugly.

Our main reason for wanting to try Center Parcs was having the great restaurants/facilities/activities within walking distance so we pre-booked a few activities, husband enjoyed archery and we both were amazed with the falconry which is an absolute must albeit expensive! We tried Hucks for lunch and recommend the Piggy Burger yum! Grand Cafe breakfast was fine except our waitress was full of cold which was slightly off putting :-/ Pancake House was ok but my stomach didn't agree lol! We booked Strada Sat night at 8.30pm thinking it would be fairly quiet by then, we could not have been more wrong! It has to be one of our worst dining experiences ever! Couldn't fault the service or the food which was delicious but the atmosphere was an extreme assault on the senses, this may be due to the design of the room as the sound bounces around the circular shape restaurant, but it meant that we couldn't have a conversation as we couldn't hear each other! Such a shame but we couldn't wait to leave :( Sunday night however we booked Ortega and this was a totally different dining experience, lovely atmosphere and stunning food accompanied by live Spanish guitarist :) it was the highlight of our break, shame its being replaced in November really, big mistake Center Parcs! As for the other onsite facilities, bowling was fun but again expensive as were the pedaloes on the lake and the sub tropical swimming paradise was not as great as we had hoped, we probably lasted an hour before getting bored.

Overall it was good to get away for a few days, we are glad we finally tried Center Parcs but I wouldn't recommend it to couples wanting peace & quiet unless you plan to stay in your portacabin and self cater the entire time as you will be completely surrounded by people everywhere else you go. For families with active kids who don't mind crowds & noise (and empty pockets!) then this is perfect for you, but sadly not for us. We prefer quality not quantity, less is more Center Parcs!
