“Fabulous Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

We visited Stourhead whilst staying locally at a B&B.
This place is stunning and I think the glorious sunshine made the day even more enjoyable.
The sights are amazing and the place is well looked after! This will definitely a place to revisit!

Lovely house and beautiful gardens. Loads to see and do - need to go back again. Just a few minutes from the A303

“A superb day out for families including the dog”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

I have now visited Stourhead a couple of times and both have been excellent. The gardens are quite simply superb. No two visits are the same.

The ever changing colour of the plants and trees makes this a super photo opportunity and if you are in to your plant's then I am sure you will get even more from a trip here. I don't really know the first thing about trees or plants, but i enjoyed it.

It is a fantastic location for all. Whilst there is not necessarily any specific kid's attractions the huge expanse of open space gives plenty of space to run around.

Whilst the house is impressive the grounds themselves were the attraction for me.

There are the main grounds with the walks around the lake which are great with nice paths, there are even more walks through the surrounding grounds & forest which is perfect for the more adventurous and dog walkers.

Whilst it is advised dog walkers should have their dog on the lead, the 5 mile round trip to King Alfreds Tower has plenty of space for dogs to be off the lead, especially if you walk through the forest. There is grazing livestock in some places so you do need to be vigilant.

Our very energetic Labrador was worn out come the end, especially as we walked around the gardens too with him (check times - normally after 4pm).

There are too a couple of courtyard areas with access to the usual National Trust drinks and food.

Best seen on a sunny day this is a must visit location and one of my favourite National Trust properties.

“Amazing Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Stourhead Gardens are the most wonderful and romantic place to visit and take a picnic as well. You will need at least 5 hours to take in the wonderful beauty and the time to walk around it.

“Favourite NT Garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We have visited Stourhead on several occasions, most recently Friday 24 May when, on arrival we were advised that the gardens would be closing earlier than usual because of the strong winds. This was certainly understandable but, never-the-less, did not detract from our appreciation of the wonderful grounds. These are immaculate and the rhododedendrons alone worthy of a visit this time of the season No doubt in our minds that Stourhead, from those visited, currently tops the table as far as NT gardens are concerned and we also like the lunch menu in the restaurant - not too much choice, meals a bit pricey but enjoyable.
