“Dorset house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Just arrived home from my 50th birthday celebrations at Dorset house. What a fabulous weekend. The house was lovely, clean and well stocked with everything u need. It housed 18 of us comfortably. The hosts were welcoming and on hand if you needed them. We ordered catering in from Lakes Bistro in the town, which was exellent. We partied til the early hours. A fantastic weekend!

Ignore the mark for the pool, we didn't make use of it but I couldn't remove the rating.

We recently stayed at Dorset House over New Years Eve and everyone had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful, lots of lovely authentic features and the owners have obviously taken time to ensure you have everything you need - it was also spotless! Lovely large dining room and sitting room with plenty of space for the 13 of us to eat and relax in comfort! The kitchen is small but very well equipped and we had no problems preparing and cooking the New Years feast! Despite the cold weather we also made use of the lovely courtyard to the rear of the house which would be fantastic in the summer months. There are plenty of bathrooms, comfy beds and lovely soft towels! The town is delightful with lots to do right on the door step and the local people we're warm and welcoming everywhere we went! I would highly recommend a visit!

Thirteen of us stayed for a wonderful long weekend; five couples and three singles. Excellent facilities with lots of bathrooms. Its located in the lovely historic town with shops and pubs a very short walk away. Very considerate hosts who having shown us around on arrival left us to enjoy ourselves. The kitchen is adequate but not large for the size of the place but with takeaways, restaurants and pubs on your doorstep this was irrelevant for us. The dining room is beautifully furnished with enough seating/table space for eighteen. The lounge is lovely and again has comfortable seating for large groups. The weather was against us but there is a great private courtyard for sitting outside in the better months of the year.
I would highly recommend Dorset House for large groups and we hope to return in the future.

We stayed in the Cottage for a week, We, being 2 couples luckily we are all very good friends,,,,
CONS:The "second" bedroom was off the living room, only separated by a curtain. The down stairs bathroom was VERY small, also the hot water pressure kept falling so the water temperature kept going hot and cold !! The Cottage was advertised as "indoor pool" But the pool belongs to the next door neighbours, so you have to book and pay them for the use of the pool.

PROS: Brian and Pamela were helpful and wonderful hosts and Alcester is a great little town to explore and only being a 5 minute walk away, with lots of interesting shops and café's.

We stayed here at the weekend for my friend's hen do and had a wonderful time. There was plenty of room for the 13 of us with the bonus of a large dining room and living room which was a comfortable fit to have everyone together at once.

There were loads of bathrooms and plenty of cutlery, crockery and glasses for us all. While the kitchen was fairly small, it wasn't a problem at all and we had the bonus of having good weather and so we were able to enjoy the outdoor space too.

Location-wise it's in a great spot to enjoy all the pubs and shops of Alcester and the car park was an added bonus.

Brian and Pam were great hosts and made us feel very welcome without being too 'in your face' over the weekend.

I'm surprised by some of the less than positive reviews on here as we had a lovely time and I would thoroughly recommend the house to other big groups.

we stayed in the cottage, whilst not as historic as the main house was comfortable and adequately equipped. well postitioned for local attractions eg. Straford, Warwick and the NEC
All amenities at hand, the owners being friendly, helpful and considerate.
we will definitely return.
