My wife, 2 children & I stayed here on Saturday 20th August 2011 on a recommendation from my wifes parents who stay here regularly, on arrival @ 1500hrs after a 2 hour drive our kids wanted something to eat, we asked to order two kids meals but were told that there was only sandwiches/panninis etc available until 1700hrs, we were given a menu to choose from & ordered 2 Floury Baps from the menu for the kids, the waiter returned 5 minutes later to inform us that they nolonger did Floury Baps (update the menu if this is the case). We opted for 2 sandwiches instead which I have to say were excellent & brilliant value for money.
We then went to our room on the first floor, the room was a great size with flatscreen TV, a double bed, 2 single beds, teasmaid etc, but I have to say @ £101 for a 1 night stay I was really disappointed in the quality/cleanliness of our room, the carpet was quite dirty, the furniture in the room had several pieces of the veneer broken of & it appeared the room hadn't been decorated for quite some time. The first floor also seemed to have a wooden floor as opposed to a concrete floor & we could feel/hear every footstep going past our room.Room service also finished @ 2100hrs which we thought was very early as we were going to order a snack @ 2300hrs until we realised this wasn't possible.
Our beds were very comfortable & we all slept well eventually despite the loud music coming from a wedding in the function room directly below our room, we were also unlucky to have a room next door to someone who felt the need to have a bath @ 0645hrs on Sunday morning & unfortunately for us we could hear every drop of water going into the bath.
Our breakfast on the Sunday morning was very good with a good selection of cooked food & cereals etc.
If we were ever returning to stay here it would have to be at a better rate than we paid because we felt the room was of a very poor standard for the price they charged.
I've tried to be as straight talking & honest as I could be when writing this review & hopefully it's helpful to other readers.
Avoid the 1st floor (101-115 i think) if possible because it's directly above the function room...
