I've been to Yoko numerous times since it opened and the best I can say about it is that the food is average, the service just a tad better than average and the general ambience is dreadful. It is a noisy uncomfortable restaurant, the tables are tightly packed together - on my last visit with a friend our table for two was placed at the end of a large party with barely a space between us. We spent our entire meal unable to hear each other over the conversations of the table next to us. Unfortunately this is a typical Yoko experience. Even worse is to be seated on the other side of the restaurant where in the open kitchen the chef constantly bellows orders to the staff. On top of this, the insistence on playing ear splitting loud music renders any dining experience far from relaxing. You're probably wondering why I've been more than once - the reason is this, there are so few places to eat in Coleraine. The concept behind Yoko is good but the delivery just doesn't make for a pleasant experience. If Yoko had any real competition in the area it would have to improve dramatically or go out of business. I am genuinely sorry to sound so negative but with the lack of restaurants and the poor standards in the area, Yoko is packed every evening and thrives on serving average food in a poor setting.
