“Friendly staff, average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I stay in this hotel only because it is the only one in Kilkeel. The staff are helpful and friendly but the rooms are dreary and the corridors smell musty. The food is average and the dining room lacks character.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the noise of the bands that play at weekends

heading to the kilmorey arms for a relaxing/chilling out night led to a very disappointing night instead.we were given the keys to our room. no one told us where to go or helped us with our bags and we just found the room by chance! we found a basic small room with no view only a roof top enclosure, a shaky handrail on the bath,a light out over the bed and tv not working.no one from the reception mentioned the tvs werent working when they handed us the key .kilmoreys web page says every room has a tv but this is misleading because they dont tell you on arrival that they actually arnt working!! breakfast was very good but the waitress was very incompetent and couldnt careless.we had to ask for everything. eg red sauce ,toast.we never got any pure orange juice.the tea was brought to us at the start and by the time the fry appeared and then the toast later it was cold and totally stewed.no one asked us if we wanted more tea. wasnt worth the hassle to ask for more!!for the price of the nights stay we could have had two nights in a b and b and received much better service.from our experience we wont be returning to the kilmorey arms and we certainly arnt recommending it to anyone!

Rooms basic but clean but certainly could do with a freshen up. toilet seat cracked and broken ,air, extracter out of order also, shower head repaired with black tape. old stains on towels, bedlinen., telephone not working. Torn wallpaper in dining room, Room was above or very near to the bar, once music started no way of getting a good nights sleep till music finished, alittle annoyed as we had driven for 7 hours and were very tired.Staff very friendly.Unfortunately no other hotel or bed/breakfast in kilkeel to choose from.

Room Tip: do not get room over the bar will not get a nights sleep till music has finished.

my wife and i went to the kilmorey arms hotel on saturday night . i must say i am sorry we stopped . the room was not up to standard. the wall paper was coming of the wall tv not working because batteries where done .we where put in a room above the bar. after dinner and a drink or two we went to bed. about 10pm the band started to play ,all we heard music and singing until 1,00am then about 7.00am the street cleaners where outside our window cleaning the street , the only good thing was the staff and the food .so if you are in kilkeel try some where else to stay

Room Tip: make sure your room as wall paper still on the wall and dont take a room above the bar

i stayed here for 3 nights and received a good service from all the staff.i was not happy about the fact that the hotel did not receive any of the sky sports channels or ESPN you would think for a hotel with a 3 star rating a hotel that has a three star rating i would expect that they would provide a service to the customers that would interest them.they only offered the basic channels that you receive without paying a subscription fee to sky.on the day i stayed many customers were completely outraged that they were unable to see the Heineken cup quarter final between ulster and Munster.all i was unable to see any of the premiere league football as i was told that the hotel did not receive the channels.i had to resort to watching the game on my iphone

Our parents stayed one night for a family celebration which included a three course dinner. We were travelling home from our own break down south and decided to call in with flowers. Raymond the barman (who that night seemed to be receptionist and waiter as well) was hardworking, professional and nothing we requested was too much bother to him. He did his best to see that we were all looked after very well. We were so impressed that we decided to have a meal as well. One parent had a specific dietry request and this was catered for with no problem whatsoever. From experience we know that this is not always the case with other, higher star establishments and we were most impressed. The hotel itself is quite basic but clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for a quiet stay or for a high tea when passing through the area.

4 of us stayed here for 3 nights B & B whilst visiting BE Aerospace.
We were made very welcome by the excellent staff, the breakfasts were good and the place was spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.
