“A must on your visit to Northern Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We visited Mount Stewart House and Gardens this weekend as we had family over from England. It is breathtaking and great value for money. (A small fee is paid at reception on the way in.)
The gardens are astounding, a photographers dream. We started with a walk around the lake. You take it at your own pace and enjoy as much detail as you can. The flowers, the different trees, the birds and swans. It was an brisk autumnal day when we went, so the colours were amazing. After our walk we went into the restaurant and had a delightful afternoon tea. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even though the place was quite busy. Afterwards we just made it in time for a tour around the house.

Our tour guide was a volunteer called William. This man knew his stuff!! He was excellent, very informative and the speed of the tour was fast enough to pack it all in, but slow enough to enjoy each room. We even had a brief meeting with Lady Lawson, the current resident. I have to say that William was excellent, funny and even helped the children with their quiz sheets they got on the way in.

We were sad to leave this place and will definately be going back. Our visitors were very impressed and enjoyed every single moment of Mount Stewart. We will be back!!

“Beautiful Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Marvellous gardens, interesting house. Guided tours only - which need to be booked - but good. Make sure you book this on arrival - someone arrived at end of day and found they were fully booked. Limited access to house - but it is being restored.

“A Beautiful Estate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

This house and its grounds are a true example of a stately house in the UK. Great history. The house is run by the national trust however one of the original family still lives on site.
We had limited time so didn't get a thorough look through the gardens however they had some pretty amazing topiary.

absolutely lovely location on the side of strangford loch. The house and grounds are stunning even though they are renovating the house. Don't miss the walk around the lake. The cafe is good too
