As day trippers visiting the North Coast we decided to give Morelli’s a try for a quick pit stop to grab a coffee and get the kids an ice cream.
Morelli’s is almost a trade mark name for good ice cream on the North Coast and has been around since I was taken there as a child and perhaps long before, I’m sure there is a great history to be researched no doubt with an Italian origin.
This small café is in a prime location in Portrush town centre and offers various coffees as usual and any amount of ice cream taken from its own menu! Although not big it seats more people than you would think with 2 tables outside on the pavement and sofa / more relaxed table at the window. Very child friendly with the nice touch of a few small, primary school type wooden chairs.
Light bites are available such as sausage rolls and sweeter options.
Very helpful staff and the tables were cleaned very promptly, always a good sign. Bearing in mind that such an establishment has to grab all it can in the holiday months the prices are keen considering its central location.
A toilet is available for patrons, simply ask for the key, its clean and well maintained. On street parking is available right at the front door though you will be lucky to find a street space in all of Portrush, much larger car parks are within easy walking distance
In conclusion an informal bolt hole to grab a hot drink and treat the kids.
