“Cheers Jonny!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Great day with a fantastic instructor! The big lad knows the score and got us surfing in no time. Jonny taught us many techniques and always made sure that we were comfortable with what we were doing. Plenty of helpful advice from a very genuine and approachable guy. We'll definitely be back soon, cheers!

“Thanks Hanno”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

I am one of the fortunate five mentioned in the review below entitled " You'll STAY ALIVE with Hanno". Hanno had forseen a dangerous situation before my group had. He helped keep us calm and guide us into shallower water whilst we were difitng out to sea in a dangerous current. Once again thanks alot and you will be my number one choice for surfing lessons in the future

“You'll STAY ALIVE with Hanno!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

It would definately be worth a lesson - Hanno knows what he is talking about. We met him in the water as he noticed we got into a bit of trouble that the 5 of us couldnt get out of on our own. He calmly ensured the safety of my uncle, cousins, brother and I by coordinating us to shore and explaining what to watch out for next time. We are so grateful that you were there and just wanted to write this review to let others know how genuine, accomplished and practical you were with us - so those who would have a fear of water or have never tried surfing before will have no worries on their actual lesson, just an excellent time whatever the weather:) Thank you!

“Great day surfing with Alive Surf School”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

We had a fantastic 2 hour lesson with Jonny on 15th December. All the equipment you need is supplied and is in really good condition (only a few months old). Jonny was great he took the time to explain everything and gave tips to try to help. Already planning another lesson for February - can't wait as we are all totally hooked.

“Another great day's surfing at Alive Surf School”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Having visited the school a number of times over the past year I organised a charity surf day with a group of 19 supporters of our charity. Participants paid £25 (half of which the surf school donated to our charity) and enjoyed a 2 hour surf lesson. The lesson fee included use of the wetsuits and surf boards and the instructors tailored the lesson to the needs of the participants, eg. we had one child, some regular surfers and people who had never surfed before but the instructors made sure everyone's needs were met.

First up was a warm up along picturesque West Strand followed by learning some surf basics as well as health and safety for the lesson. Then participants headed into the water to practise what they had learned. Later everyone came back out of the water to practise standing up on their boards (much easier on terra firma!) before giving it a go in the water.

At the end of the 2 hour lesson we all warmed up with some hot chocolate and shared stories of success and splashes in the waves! There are hot showers provided by Coleraine Borough Council also.

I always have a great time when I visit Alive Surf School and am looking forward to organising another trip. It was a great day for our charity and Ricky, Hanno and Johnny were very patient and enthusiastic and ensured that everyone had a great time. Everyone is still talking about the event last week and asking when the next one is!

I would recommend Alive Surf School for anyone who fancies trying their hand at something a bit different. It is completely safe and it doesn't matter if you go on your own or with a big group you will enjoy the challenge of attempting to conquor the waves and you'll make some new friends along the way! From a business perspective working with the school was great. I was able to tell them exactly what I needed to achieve from the event and they even helped to promote it by sharing it on their social media pages. We got some fantastic promotional pictures on the day as well thanks to their openness and willingness to try something a little different!

Definitely give it a go!
