Arrived at 4pm after having gotten up at 5am to catch my flight, only to find that reception were unable to confirm if the room was ready, even though check-in was 3pm. We were advised to go into the bar and get a drink, (not complementary), and they would come and find us when the room was ready. The receptionist did not seem too bothered by the fact we had been up since 5am, and were travelling as a family with an 8 year old. They did not offer us the option to leave our luggage with them so we had to lug it all into an extremely busy bar, as they had a function on and it was full of the functions guests. We found a table and ordered some drinks and she came and found us about 10 mins later to tell us the room was ready. We were not advised of any facilities i.e. leisure facilities, other restaurants, where the room was located etc. We went to the room and were pleasantly surprised with the size. As you entered you passed the bathroom and into a double bedded area, then through to the main bedroom/lounge area, so was lovely and spacious for a family of 4. Had dinner in the main restaurant and the food was quite average while the prices not. Not huge choice and quite poor kids menu, luckily they were happy for the kids to order from the lounge menu. Breakfast the next day was excellent. Decided to eat in the bar the 2nd night and was interested to be told when ordering a 2nd large glass of wine, that they had run out of large wine glasses as they were all in the restaurant and would I like a small one instead!!!. Food was as expected and far more enjoyable. Used the pool once but found the whole area really cold so not very relaxing. All in all a bit disappointing compared to other Hiltons and is looking like it could do with a bit of a tidy up and a referb in places and at £99 per night on a special offer very expensive in comparison to others I have stayed in.
