“Great tour through working distillery!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Great tour through a working distillery, not like some other distillery/brewery tours that walk you through signs and mock machinery that show what the brewing/distilling process would look like. This is the real deal and shows you the actual boilers and workers that make every drop of Bushmills Whisky that is exported around the world. Too bad we weren't a fan of Whiskey.

“Discover the water of life... even if you don't like whiskey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I don't drink the stuff. Not because I think it's nasty, it's just that it's an acquired taste that I didn't manage to acquire (yet! still working on it). Visiting a distillery/brewery/winery does not mean you have to like the stuff. I mean, most people will agree the Mona Lisa is a work of beauty, whether you can paint or not. The visit is extremly informative (I'm naturaly curious about the origin of things) and after all, what better place to do this than in the oldest licensed distillery in the world (400 years and counting). After all, if you want to visit something from the Roman era, what better place to go than Rome? Yeah, I know, you can argue on that one but admittely Rome is a good place for Roman 'stuff'. Same goes for Whiskey and Bushmills I guess. Nice walking tour with a good explanation on the origins and my personal favorite the etymology of Whiskey (Uisce beatha to 'Fuiskey ba' to Whiskey which means water of life; I like that!). And like I said, whether you acquired the taste or not, at the end I have to taste... So I'll keep going back until I like it ;-) The visit is that good! Oh, and if you know anyone that really loves the stuff: they sell the exclusive 12 year single malt ONLY here. Nowhere else in the world. Believe me; you're going to make friends bringing that baby to them.
