After reading the other reviews, I wondered if we were in the same place at all. This is a takeaway shop, so if you don't have a place to eat in town, do as our B&B host suggested and take your package down the road to the Scottish Inn. Also keep in mind that they are battering the fish right in front of you, so don't think this is going to be a 30 second transaction. They take their time.
We took our tightly wrapped packages over to the Scottish Inn and the barman there served us a delightful crisp, ice cold Tennants. I couldn't finish mine fish and chips, and I got the child's portion. An adult portion would have served my husband and I together (and keep in mind we are both really round). It was delicious. It smelled so good that one of the patrons in the pub took orders and ran over to get fish and chips for the other patrons. I thought the breading was crisp and crunchy, the way it should be, and nice and salty. Being an American, we might have different expectations of our fish and chips, in that mine might be really low because it's all crap over here, but my husband and I both crave the Hip Chip and a Tennants every Sunday.
