My husband and I stayed in The Keep Guesthouse for three nights recently and couldn't fault it. We had to find a B&B in a hurry to enable us to visit a sick relative and decided on this one from the reviews. We were not disappointed. The owners, Raymond and Heather, couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly and gave us ample information on local eateries, etc. Our room was extremely comfortable and bright with three windows letting in the spring sunshine. We slept well in the cosy bed and the room was always warm when required but not too warm in the early morning. There were extra heating facilities should they be required.
The Ulster Fry breakfast was delicious but if you wanted a variation or something different then it was no trouble. There was also a large choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, sauces and jams for your toast, etc., so no-one could complain of not having enough to eat to start their day. Having read a previous review regarding the fact that the owners didn't cook breakfast - does it really matter? As long as you enjoy what is put in front of you and the person cooking/serving it is personable and willing to help, which she was, then all's well!
Having had a couple of bad experiences in the past, one in England and one elsewhere in N. Ireland, we can honestly say that we were pleasantly surprised with our experience in The Keep Guesthouse. We will, no doubt, be back in Carrickfergus in the future and will certainly be staying here. As the saying goes, "there are no strangers in this B&B, only friends you have never met".
