“Excellent Pub Grub and Hospitality!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We stayed in Abergorlech for a week as a party of 4 with a dog.

The Black Lion was where we ate and drank nearly every night.
The food was hearty and prepared with care with everything we ordered.
The Landlord and Lady made us feel extremely welcome, helping us at every opportunity and the regulars were friendly and full of local information and stories.

Coming from the hustle of bustle of Central Cardiff this was the ideal venue for our relaxing country stay with great features inside and a gorgeous garden outside with the Cothi river running past.

We all ended our holiday willing to make the 3hr round trip back to Abergoloch just to come back to The Black Lion to sample the atmosphere one more time.

“Best Sunday Lunch in Carmarthenshire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We visited here yesterday for a fathers day sunday lunch.
There were a choice of 4 starters and Beef/Pork/Nutroast Roast Dinner and over 10 desserts.
The high quality of the food is unbeatable with everything home made, it really was the best sunday lunch we have enjoyed out.
We has beef, parsnips, 2 large roast potatoes with cabbage, new potatoes, swede, carrots and we all had dessert which again was delicious!
They didnt charge any extra for food, seeing as it was fathers day.
Excellent standards and value for money with 3 course £12.95 approx
Lovely welcome and service was great throughout.
Canont wait to return.

“Great country pub with great food and great service. Thanks for a lovely time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We were looking for a nice country pub for a mid week family lunch.

We drove from Carmarthen along the A40 to Nantgaredig and then the B4310, all the while enthusing about the beautiful countryside.

We arrived after 30 minutes at the picturesque Black Lion pub alongside the River Cothi.

From the moment we entered the premises and were warmly greeted by the owner, we knew it was the right decision to visit there.

Steak and Guinness pie, full of steak and with the most wonderful pastry, Salmon and Crab fish cakes and Plaice fillet were served with a selection of salad, chips, new potatoes and accompanied by some Rhymney Brewery bitter. It was all fresh and tasty and fully appreciated by all our party.

The food was so perfectly prepared and presented by such friendly and engaging people, we have had only positive impressions about our experience earlier today and will certainly be visiting the Black Lion in Abergorlech in the future.

“Fantastic pub with great food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

As a mountain biker this pub sits right at the start of the Gorlech Trail in Brechfa, so is ideally placed for some food before, during or after a ride. The food has always been great, and on a nice day you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

“Friendly and excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

We live in the Carmarthen area and wanted to go somewhere new for a meal. Chose The Black Lion at random and were very pleased we did. Very high quality food and friendly, efficient service. We will definitely be going back and taking visitors. Great location for summer evening drink too, sitting out by the river. Highly recommended.
