If you have an hour to spare, the cruises on the canal are worth taking. You can travel up or down the canal, although I prefer the cruise towards Gargrave. The cruise is leisurely in a narrow-boat style of boat. There are swing bridges where the crew hop on and off so that the boat can travel through and there is quite a bit of wild life - swans, herons and many ducks. There are fiels with cattle and in spring there are masses of flowers along the canal banks. In the other direction, it is more industrial - old mills and bridges. A peaceful lazy way to spend a relaxing hour!
