“Hot time at Premier Inn Huntingdon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Just spent a 2 night break at the Premier Inn in Huntingdon the valve was great 2 nights for £78
The room was spotless 40 inch Tv mounted on the wall the only down side was the heat in the room the window only opened a couple of inchs the room did have a fan but at 30C a bit to hot at night
The reception staff outstanding local knowledge good and very helpful

Room Tip: Try and keep off the top floor as the higher you went the hotter it got

Stayed here for one night to break up a long journey. It was my first Premier Inn stay and I was very impressed! Check in was smooth and friendly and we were warned of the temperature in the rooms being quite hot and offered to have sheets instead of duvets. The room was a little on the warm side and fine with the window open, but it's not ideal as there was quite a lot of noise in the morning. I imagine in the current heatwave it is probably way too hot though! The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, with a big comfy bed and good sized wall mounted TV. Bathroom also spotless. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again but might be wary of booking in the summer. Sort out some air con and it would be perfect!

We stayed in July and it was way too hot in the rooms. They are super-insulated so keep warm which will be good in the winter but in the summer they are just awful to stay in. The window only opened a little so ventialtion was very restricted, room was 27 deg overnight. We saw other people complaining about the heat at reception and about how wide the windows would open. These are restricited for safety reasons but can't be overidden by adults,

The staff did what they could with a small fan in the room, a bigger fan would be better and supplied a sheet to replace the duvet, but it is a structural problem with the hotel.

The reception staff are extremely nice and friendly some of the best we've met at a Premier Inn.

The hotel is really in the middle of nowhere so food is limited to the attached pub, McDonald's or sarnies from the petrol station, unless you want to drive somewhere. We were much delayed on the M6 so decided to dine at the pub. It was a Friday night and we had not booked. We expected a wait for a table but the wait for a drink was very long at over 20 minutes. They need more staff on at busy times. The serving staff were very good. The food was what you would expect for a chain pub.

Stopped here for two nights this week on business. The room itself was clean and well proportioned, but the stay was ruined by the temperature in the room !
On both nights the temperature remained at a constant at 28 Celcius (All night) A fan was supplied but it just made it feel like a convector oven. The windows barely opened (about two inches) which obviously just made things worse.

This hotel desperately need air conditioning to resolve the problem.

On another note, it is worth just mentioning that I dined in the restuarant on both evenings. Although the food was fine, one thing that I found alarming was the cleanliness of the glasses and plates. I dont know whether there is an issue with the dish washers or what, but I had to return a drink to the bar because the glass was very dirty and the replacement wasnt much better. I also swapped numerous plates and drinks glasses at breakfast.

Worth investigating I think.. In defence of the restuarant this is the first time I have experienced this. (having stopped here in the past)

The room was clean, modern and quiet. Bathroom adequate and clean. Staff we're fine. But OMG the temperature of the room was awfull, couldn't sleep, felt like crap when we woke up, did not complain because who wants to get up and go to reception at 1am?!

very much enjoyed this night on our way to a wedding. Although did find it difficult to locate whilst coming north from Cambridge in heavy traffic. As usual felt at ease when checked in. Impressed with the security system for getting into rooms. Liked the "Quiet Area" notices.

Very nice room which was immaculate, room was also well equipped with plugs and soaps and clean towels in the bathroom and the staff were very friendly. Both staff exceed what I expected from the usual conversation :)
