I love Houghton Mill! I have been going there since i was a toddler, in fact my dad taught me to swim there in the days before it was an offical caravan park! Then it was with my friends when we were teenagers when we all met up on a hot summer Sunday afternoon, just sitting on the grass chatting, watching the boats through the lock...awesome days :)
Even now, i still love a walk around the village, stop and have a beer, then walk around the Mill, thinking..why why change it from what it was?? then walk to Hemingford Grey and back again.
Yes, its still lovely, but me like so many can remember it as it was, unspoilt by caravans and just parked cars enjoying a lovely cheap afternoon, with great company and the joys of an unspoilt location....simple pleasures but so many happy memories when it was simply a great meetup point.
