An excellent and charming Gallery by the banks of the Nan River on the main road from Nan City to Pua in the north of the province. We were lucky enough to meet the owner of the Gallery, Winai Prabripoo, while we were there, shortly before he was due to leave for a major exhibition of his works in Bangkok. A charming person, who also speaks some English, he is regarded as one of the best of modern Thai artists and has an international reputation. He has a large 2 storey building in the grounds which houses many of his paintings, mainly modern, though not avant garde. There are also a number of other smaller buildings for his art, as well as a partly underground Exhibition Centre which houses yet more works of art by himself and others. There is also an additional shop where one can buy smaller artistic sculptures and handicrafts, some made by Winai and some by other local Thai artists, perhaps more suitable for those with a smaller budget, like us!
The Gallery is set in lovely wooded grounds on a small cliff right by the Nan River so is a great place to just relax for a while, as well as for seeing some great works of modern Thai art.
