“Five circles doesn't do it justice ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

By far the easiest five circles I've ever given - this place is amazing.

It looks just like it does in the photos and is the most relaxing place I've been to.

The arrival on the sea plane is a fabulous experience, with mind-blowing views. On arrival your met with smiles that continue throughout your stay.

We were given a beach villa on the south side, the villa was lovely but we didn't think the beach space was as nice as the other side. The hotel were great at moving us and the other villa was just as lovely.

The ants etc in the bathroom can be a bit annoying but I found spraying the toilet with insect repellant worked well! I really liked the feeling of showering outside and it was better than a small pokey inside bathroom.

The resort itself is spotless - everywhere so clean. I am one of these funny people who when round the pool or at the bar goes back to their room to use the toilet but I didn't in this resort, which believes me speaks volumes!

We thought the food was lovely, always something new to try and nothing repeated, which was a shame as some things we had were so yummy!

The staff were amazing, so friendly and nothing too much trouble. Special mention to Robin and all the bar staff.

My only slight gripe was the bed in our room, it was two singles pushed together so the gap in the middle was noticeable and uncomfortable.

I would definitely go back.

This place really is paradise... I've travelled the world to many great places and this one is definitely top three.. The staff can't do enough for you, the food is the best I've had for a holiday resort, even being vegetarian there was a good amount of food choices especially if you like curry as different vege curries daily inc fish or meat if you like those. In my experience the reef is better than the barrier reef Australia for snorkeling. We stayed in a JWV, wow, worth spending that little bit more.. The only negative was the flight with Thomson but from what I've heard they won't be doing this resort from May next year. Not a negative but a small comment for the resort that with my experience with 4/5* all inclusive, all drinks should be within, including all alcoholic drinks & The Asian wok being such a lovely restaurant, would be nice to give all inclusive one meal within the holiday.. But Any one considering booking this resort, don't hesitate... Book!!!

Room Tip: JWV is a must, sleeping with the ocean below you!!!!!! What a dream!!!!!

Reef snorkelling was fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful. First place I have travelled where the photos looked like the reality. If you don't get in the water this would not be the place for you.

Amazed to see lion fish, moray eels, sting rays, sharks, turtles and lots of other marine life so close and all together on this island.

Food was amazing.

Room Tip: Beach villa suited our needs, perfect to have just a few meters of sand to the shore and reef.

We had an amazing time on Vilamendhoo in, yes, September! The weather was perfect with only 2 hours of rain on one day, during the 2 weeks we were in the Maldives. The staff were friendly, the beaches and reef were stunning with beautiful fish life and corals. The diving around the Island with "Euro Divers" were amazing. We heard a dive group coming back from the full day "Diving Safari's" saying they saw 9 whale sharks and another group, 7 whale sharks (in September). The food were absolute amazing, but we definitely recommend that you consider the "All inclusive package" (in addition to the Full board option - 55USD per person per day) which allows you unlimited access to limited options of alcohol, water and cocktails. (Note that the water is charged for as well.) All the beach bungalows on the Island are beautifully situated but we would recommend the Northern side of the island where it is nice and quiet with a welcome breeze. The Arrival & Supply jetty's are on the southern side. The sun sets on the west end, but both the Sunset Bar and the Bonthi Bar are amazing to relax during and after Sunset. Definitely recommend the SPA treatments. The limit for the Seaplanes are 20kg per person, so take note that you can store exess luggage at 5 USD per day, per bag. Absolute bliss - cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: We recommend the Nothern side Beach Bungalows - No's 185 -192 (bigger beach). They are further a...

Summary

We stayed there from 29 Sept till 6 October and really loved the total package. where to start? Maybe the genuine friendliness of all staff (thanks especially Jameel - our waiter, and Abdullah who cleaned our water jacuzzi villa - room 307 was great), the food at the buffet plus reception and especially the dive operation at Euro divers - Michelle / Sonja and the rest of the crew :-). We are very seasoned travellers over a long time, this trip was great value (all inclusive), lots to do and see and the pace of lifestyle was fantastic.

Detail

There were so many highlights. To name a few:- the quality of the house reef surrounding the island, even though the buffet meals breakfast, lunch and dinner were great, we did also go to the Asian Wok for a fantastic and entertaining Teppanyaki dinner. As a returning dive instructor, I was very impressed with the quality of the dive centre - from the quality of gear, the time spent on safety and making sure all the divers had fun too!!!! The variety of the food at the buffet was a great mix of new and staple food items very five star !!!!. the service from the bar, from the variety of cocktails to the variety of bottled wine and drinks was great. the daytime spa had a variety of packages for any discerning visitor and the size of the rooms and quality furnishings throughout was excellent.

Room Tip: we stayed at 307 it was only four villas from the beach and we had great views

We traveled here in July this year and to be honest its hard to surpass all the other positive superlatives that other contributors have said about this place.

The whole island, the accommodation, the staff in fact everything is as near perfect as I think you could find. I have no doubt that there are more luxurious islands in the Maldives however they would come at costs beyond my budget; and although this is hardly 'budget' accommodation for the price we paid we got more than out monies worth. We were in a water villa and a Jacuzzi beach villa; I had requested prior to arrival specific locations within a 10 villa range and although we were told this could not be guaranteed we go exactly what I had asked for. I won't repeat what others have said but endorse anyone who gives this resort 5 stars. It really is an incredible place and I could find no fault with it at all.

I know others have complained about Thomson flights here but we never had an issue; and its such a shame that they have pulled out as this may mean a return visit for us is not affordable.

I highly recommend this island to anyone who wants relaxation, excellent accommodation, fantastic food and outstanding service.

My husband and I stayed at the Vilamendhoo Resort in the Maldives for 1 week for our honeymoon, and we had a perfect relaxing week. The hotel staff were all really friendly and helpful - a problem with our air con was fixed immediately. The food was very good, and we'd definitely recommend trying the Asian Wok for a change from the buffet restaurant. The snorkelling was brilliant, we saw lots of colourful fish just a few strokes away from our beach outside our villa, and the hire of the gear was reasonably priced at 8 dollars per day per set. We would also highly recommend a full body massage at the spa, a really nice touch.

It was the perfect place to relax, and it looked even better than the photos.

Shelley and Wes

Room Tip: The beach villas and water bungalows are the best options as opposed to the garden villas.
