“Picturesque castle and a good wine experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Grinzane Cavour is a small Piedmont hill town dominated y it's medieval castle. The castle sports 360 degree views of the countryside, as well as a small museum, the enoteca of the area commune, and a fine restaurant. The enoteca has a small tasting area, comprehensive descriptions of all the wines of the area, as well as hundred of bottles of wine for sale. A meal at the restaurant is not to be missed if possible.

“Beautifull Castle - wonderfull views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

The castle is very well kept and restored in a lovely and respectful way. The surroundings are one of the most beautifull we've seen in the area: although in the middle of a village, you get a 360° view over the entire countryside, filled with hills full of vineyards. Marvellous!!
Inside, you can find a nice shop and there's an interesting museum about the history of the castle and it count. The audioguide (with all kinds of languages) gives you a nice tour of the castle. It's really worth the entrance fee!
At the end of the tour you can enjoy a nice drink (the castle offers an elegant bar in the courtyard inside). There's also a restaurant with beautifull furniture and lovely views, but we didn't try that, it's only open at night it seems.
Overall a very nice trip for us, and for the children as well. Totally worth the visit.

“Nice stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

We visited the small castle at the top of the town. It has a nice view and an interesting looking restaurant inside. Unfortunately it is closed Tuesday and Wednesday otherwise I would have tried it.

“A delightful afternoon of wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

Who would expect that in a little hilltown in Piemonte there would be a castle devoted to wine-making, complete with a documentary and actors portraying the history of this fascinating area. The museum is well-done and certainly held our interest for the hour or so that we were there. If you're visiting Piemonte, it would be good to take time to visit Grinzane di Cavour to gain a more complete understanding of the wine history of the area.
