If you can keep your mental wits about you, it's a fun course. The winds can make it crazy challenging (2 to 4 extra clubs) or, if winds are still, you'll feel like the best golfer ever! Greens run really fast, and can be tricky, unless you can remember the direction of the grass and that they break midway between Molokai and Lanai. Nothing can beat the hills and valleys, canyons and blind shots - it keeps you on your toes. Yep, you have to pay to play, but check out the specials - you might find a weekender, mid day and twilight rates. If you're a high handicapper or casual golfer playing with someone who must play it, take it easy and pick up or place your balls wherever you need to in order to stay in relaxed play mode. Snacks cart comes around plenty; beware there is no grill to stop at after 9th hole. If you're playing late, stop at the restaurant/bar for more scenic views and watch as others come in through 18.
