“Good Family Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Ive eaten at Ask a few times over the last couple of years and it has always been a pleasurable experience. The menu is always interesting and varied and the food is excellent.
This is a nice restaurant to take older children as the menu caters well for children and grown ups without dumbing down by offering 'fast food'.
The staf are aleways very friendly and welcoming and if there is a show on at the Hall For Cornwall you might see a celebrity or two as this is a popular venue for them.

“Disappointing 21st Birthday Celebration”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

We chose Ask as a venue because the birthday girl loves italian food. What a shame the evening didn't live up to expectations. We were off to a good start when our drinks order was taken efficiently. We did however then have to wait for 45 minutes before our food order was taken (this was after spending a while trying to get the waitresses attention), it was a busy saturday night to be fair but we still felt this was unacceptable. The starters arrived about 20 minutes later. The garlic mushrooms were bland and dried up. We then had to wait for over an hour for our main course. These were on the whole luke warm, bland and of poor quality, but as it was a birthday celebration we did not like to complain. We were offered no top up drinks during the evening or desserts and had to ask for plates to be cleared away at the end of the evening. On the whole the food and particularly the service could have been so much better. Incidentally, we were sat next to the open plan kitchen which smelt of burnt food all evening. A couple of our party found the smell almost repulsive. To sumarise, poor management seemed to be to blame as the staff that did eventually attend to us were courteous and helpful, they just didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing! What a shame, wish I had cooked at home.
