“Beautiful hotel with excellent facilities and entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2009

OK, let’s clear up the other 'negative' comments that have been written here about this hotel first.
Yes - it is very big, but the hotel is laid out so tastefully with pools and palms, it is a pleasure to walk around the grounds and spend a lot of time in the hotel area.
Yes - it is not cheap, but you really get something special for your money.
Yes - you have to pay extra for the use of a room-safe, but the rate is not that expensive.
Yes - you have to pay extra for fresh orange juice at breakfast, but other machine juices and the cava are for free.
Yes - you have to pay extra to use the spa & main gym facilities, but if you are on a long vacation, take the spa 5-visit and the gym monthly membership offers, for best value.
Yes - the washing machine and tumble dryer facilities are not cheap, but they were well kept.
Yes - the ingredients of the food buffets are not clearly marked, but the staff are eager to help clarify; we had half-board and the food and selections were excellent in all the restaurants, even for us as vegetarians.
Yes - the standard of the nightly live shows varies but the highlights we saw; the Elvis show, El Divo singing group and the acrobat dance team, were top class.
Make no mistake, this hotel is excellent. We stayed for a 3 weeks wellness & sports break in March, and this hotel exceeded our expectations. The outdoor pools and jacuzzi’s were amazing, including one 100m pool and they were all heated. The spa facilities were fantastic and the main gym very modern. The massages in the spa were very professional. The sport offers e.g. tennis, football, aqua-gym, soft-gym, stretching were good fun and well instructed by Jura, Ruben, Pedro, Sophie and Maria. In fact all the staff in the hotel, restaurants and spas were very friendly & helpful.
We were upgraded to a ground-floor pool standard room view on arrival, and the room was large, clean and comfortable, even though the double bed was two single beds pushed together, as is typical for Spain.
The location of the hotel is perfect, on the main boulevard next to the Faro lighthouse.
The beach with the incredible dunes, is less than 200m away and kept very clean.
There is full access to the main towers in the hotels and the view of sunrise and sunset is spectacular.
We are definitely going back to this amazing hotel…..

exelent hotel food on half board very good, plenty choice, the otherwise 5 star facilities were badly let down by the spacing in the dining room, the distance between tables were seven inches at times, it did not make for relaxed meal times.

I went to this hotel quite a while ago, but since I only just discovered this site and really loved the hotel I have decided to write a review for it anyway.

My family and I finally chose this hotel at a travel agency amongst a few cheaper alternatives and we were very happy that we did despite the slightly higher costs. We found the hotel very spacious and beautifully built, and probably one of the best ones we have been to on our travels (and we travel quite a lot). Looking back, the (standard) rooms were perhaps a bit smaller compared to ones I've been to since, but we were extremely happy with them - especially since we hardly spent any time in them anyway because the rest of the hotel was so amazing! The bathroom especially is very modern, and the balcony has quite a nice view of the grounds. The food was also quite good, especially for the money you pay for the hotel. There was a buffet every day with a wide variety of food, so we never really got bored of it and ate well.

What I have particularly fond memories of is the amazing spa - by far the nicest one I have been to. Every room had a different "theme" to it and had an amazing atmosphere - the perfect place to relax! I found the staff in the spa very friendly as well - keen to guide us around and eager to explain the various features. I have plans to go back sometime in the future just because of it!

All in all, a very nice hotel with nice amenities. Definitely go there if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, especially if you are a spa fan like me!!

Stayed here for a week in March. Check in busy but ran smoothly. Room very clean and comfortable, good size for standard room. Balcony had great view over courtyard and gardens, sea in distance, and could watch nightly show in distance and hear it well from our balcony. Wireless internet worked fine on balcony and ok in room. Bathroom large and clean, shower and bath. Easy to find sunbeds every day, even after 10.30am. No feeling of competition over sunbeds. Breakfast was very good selection, massive operation and busy. Staff don't smile much but were always helpful and willing. Good security at hotel. Really good sleection of restaurants for lunch and dinner, both in the hotel and also directly outside along the front. Loved the chinese restaurant nearby on the boulevard. Bad experience at the Via Veneto restaurant in the hotel but their Ambassadors restaurant was excellent standard of food and service. Entertainment was variable but enjoyable. Beds comfortable and rooms cleaned daily to very good standard. Only news tv channels in English as usual, and tedious rolling repetitive news. Spa was very high standard and not too expensive.
Despite the fact that this hotel is huge, it didn't feel that way - it felt private and personal, and didn't feel too bustly. We rarely met many people along the corridors. There was not too much noise, and not many screaming kids.

Wonderful hotel!
The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Unfortunatley our fridge wasn't very cold but that was the only fault.
The food was good with plenty of choice. We didn't try any of the restaurants due to the price and the cost of the drinks was very high.
All the pools were clean and my boyfriend loved the main pool! There are plenty of sunloungers but you must get out before 10am to get the best ones. Waiters would come round throughout the day selling food and drinks! The staff were very friendly throughout the hotel.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay a the Lopesan.

Spent the first week of March in this fantastic hotel. We loved it. We stayed half board and the food at breakfast and dinner was amazing. Something for everyone. Plenty of choices. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and the maids were in twice a day cleaning and leaving fresh towels etc. The staff were very friendly and for such a busy hotel you were never left more than a couple of minutes waiting for service. The pool areas were great and plenty of sunbeds and parasols.
Was a bit worried by some of the previous reviews complaining about noise. Yes it can be noisy at certain times of the day but this did not take away from our holiday at all.
Will be going back here as soon as we can.

we stayed in this hotel 6 years ago and decided to go back for my 50th birthday and in the 6 years nothing had changed apart from outside entertainment .The hotel is first class , staff are so helpfull and friendly , cleanliness is second to none there was always someone around cleaning . We would recommend this hotel to anyone without a doubt and hope to go again sometime in near future . Our only very minor fault is they advertise tv channels but there is hardly anything in english and for a family with children it would be difficult to keep them amused in the rooms apart from this its an excellent hotel and excellent position
