“Fantastic hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Everything was perfect in that beautiful hotel! The location just a few minutes from the promenade in Meloneras and the sandy beach. The facilities and design of the buildings and the interior. The magnificent gardens, the pools, the restaurants with the rich buffets. Many activities for kids and for the grown ups. The staff was professional and very friendly. We would definitely recommend it to all!

Off to a good start before we even booked as I queried pool temperature and received a prompt and informative reply.

As our transfer coach got closer we could see the hotel from quite some distance away, somehow I hadn't thought it was quite so large! Arrival went well, a short wait to check in was helped along with a pleasant welcome drink. We were given an upgrade, partner's birthday perhaps the reason. Our junior suite was very nice overlooking the gardens and pools with a view of the mountains and a little bit of sea. Glad we weren't overlooking the road, many of those rooms had better views of the sea but we don't like traffic noise. Room was well maintained and spotless, air-con was pretty much silent which is something I've found surprisingly rare. Huge bath and separate shower, two singles beds pushed together which means lots of space but an irritating gap. We have a ten month old and they provided a sturdy looking cot with a mattress that seemed pretty new and nice linen.

Short walk to the beach, although if you like swimming and don't like rocks you have to walk a fair way toward Playa del Ingles. I found it fine getting in near the lighthouse at high tide but although the beach has plenty of sand enter the water and you'll find rocks.

Hotel pools were lovely, variety of temperatures and all were warm enough. Apparently the hotel was fully booked and there were plenty of loungers. Gardens are immaculate, on our final morning a gardener stopped us and handed us a couple of oranges fresh from a tree - delicious!

The children's area was pretty good, some soft toys and shade for us to entertain our 10 month old. Toddler's pool was like a warm bath.

Breakfast was your standard buffet, to a nice standard but exactly what you'd expect - choice of fresh bread, juice, sliced meat, cheese, bacon, those dodgy processed sausages that every hotel outside the UK seem to think are fine to serve, etc. Pots of coffee and coffee machines using freshly ground beans.

The evening buffet was a notch above what I've enjoyed before in similar hotels, better service and better quality food. It's still a bit of a scrum if you hit it at a busy time, oddly there's a second buffet restaurant they weren't encouraging us to use but were happy for people to walk through to. We never used it but looking through it seemed much quieter (we were on strict schedule with the baby, no time for lingering). Staff were lovely, sadly a fair number of rude customers though - unsmiling grunters pointing at their choice of steak etc.

It's a family friendly kind of place and there were lots of babies and children about. All well behaved and it seemed to work OK, we felt comfortable however it didn't feel like a creche.

Every interaction with the staff was positive. We needed some advice as our baby was ill and they were lovely, little things like calling the taxi to go to the health centre then when we got out the front a member of staff was stood by our taxi confirming it was for us and handing us over to the driver. Also phoning the next day to ask how the baby was, which was nice.

We were sad when it came time to leave through the impressive entrance and my partner said something I don't think she's ever said before - I'd come back here!

We booked a week at this fab hotel and loved every minute of it.
We visited in early November and the weather was perfect, warm and sunny.
The hotel is impressive and immaculate. The staff work their socks off and the service is second to none.
We were upgraded and given a lovely bottle of bubbly which we enjoyed on the balcony.
The food is good, a huge selection, however we did decide to go out on a couple of nights just for a bit of variety and a change of scenery.
The entertainment is brilliant and live music is outstanding.
The swimming pools are awesome, very relaxing and we never had a problem getting a sun bed. Drinks are served around the pool; if you like cocktails you'll enjoy the extensive list that the bars sell.
We loved this hotel and will definitely return.
The location is perfect too :)

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first holiday and it was fantastic! From the moment we arrived we were greeted with cocktails which was refreshing after our long day of travelling and the check in was quick and easy, the staff took our luggage up to our room which was great! The room was amazing, immaculate and very well presented, lovely balcony over looking the pool area. The design of the hotel was unique and very spectacular it had a lovely feel to it and the pool and bar areas were very nice. The food was yummy the staff were attentive and friendly and the live African band in the Richard Burton bar were the BEST we have ever heard so we watched them every night of our stay! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, we made some great memories and will defiantly be returning in the near future...this really is paradise :)

Booking the hotel: expensive
Booking the flight: expensive
Walking in the main entrance: priceless...

I just can't describe the feeling of walking in the main entrance of this resort. It is simply amazing. Lopesan baobab resort stimulates all of the sences. And every day feels like an adventure when walking around the resort.

We were here in december, but still the temperatures was ok. Though the pool temperatures of some of the pools was quite refreshing.

The staff was always friendly and helpful and service was not far away.

I have seen that many comment on the room cleaning and wifi of this hotel, but we was not really bothered by that.

This is a hotel that everybody should experience at some time. Especially if you have any children.

Thank you so much for a memorable stay and an unforgettable honeymoon.

After a very long wait at the airport for our luggage we were really annoyed to find that
our first experience of the Baobab was to stand in a long slow queue to check in. Definitely not what you expect of a 5* hotel. Although they brought us a drink in the queue - basically a glass of pink pop - and a staff member stood at the front apologising for the delay, it set the holiday off to a disappointing start. Surely management of 5*calibre could come up with a more customer friendly solution, such as being seated until a member of reception became available - one to think about perhaps Baobab??

Now that's over and done with our overall experience of the hotel, its grounds and its staff was excellent. Everything was immaculately clean and well maintained - lots of interesting nooks and crannies with model animals and exotic planting to explore, not just vast featureless laying out areas. Good to have a quiet pool away from the children's area for peace and quiet - although the young children's pool did look fun!

The food in the 2 restaurant was of a high standard with a good choice and constantly being re-filled. Service in the restaurants was very professional - efficient and friendly. The only things that spoilt the dining experience was the very low lighting - a bit too dark for comfort - and the close proximity of tables. When dining as a couple you were far too near to people at the sides and we found we were constantly having to ask "for somewhere quiet". In a small area where lots of tables had been placed in rows in the Baobab restaurant it looked and sounded more like a canteen than a high quality restaurant in which to enjoy a leisurely evening dinner.

The bar leading out from reception was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner drink - the cocktails were fabulous! Hotel bedrooms are vast and have everything you need - although come on Lopesan, everyone now expects a room safe and WiFI included in the price at 5* accommodation - to charge separately looks amateurish.
All in all a very good hotel, with some excellent staff. For us just one or two adjustments needed to make it a truly 5* experience.

Room Tip: Rooms with afternoon sun are on quieter side.
