Well, this certainly gives the wow factor when you arrive. This is the most original spectacular hotel ever. From the minute you walk through the door, being greeted with a glass of fruity fizz, to the ever friendly helpful reception staff.
The rooms themselves are some of the best. The standard room is a very large room, with shower/bathroom with the frosted glass panel into the bedroom. There is a hidden flat screen TV, large leather sofa and desk, opening onto a balcony.
The wardrobe space is vast, large enough to hide everything away.
The waiting staff are also friendly and certainly can't do enough for you.
There are two buffet restaurants, the Marula, which is more for families and the Baobab mainly for adults, though families do go in there. There are also other restaurants though these are not included in the packages.
The buffet breakfast and evening meal certainly cover all tastes. You can even enjoy a glass of complementary fizz with breakfast if you choose.
The evening buffet has themed evenings, though there is no announcement anywhere to let you know what the choice is that evening until you are in the restaurant. The desserts are to die for, including fruit, an array of chocolate cakes/sweets and even a chocolate fountain.
You should know that there are two sittings for the evening meal in the Baobab restaurant, though it's not until you arrive at the restaurant entrance that this is the case.
The pool areas are pretty spectacular, with the lazy river to swim around, the faux beach pool, the very quiet pools at the back of the hotel and then the pools that are more family themed. You don't need your own beach towels as these are provided and can be changed daily.
The hotel have pretty much thought of everything here, though we did have a couple of issues that could easily be addressed; firstly, on check in, you are issued cards for your room for each person - they don't tell you that you need these cards to get into the buffet restaurants and to charge purchases to your rooms. Secondly is the aforementioned meal sittings, which everyone should be informed of.
Any negatives in this review are so minor, they are certainly overshadowed by the positives of this place. This is a spectacular hotel and most definitely is unique in it's styling, décor and whole layout. I would not hesitate in coming here again and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to visit Meloneras. The staff are also to be commended on their service, friendliness and promptness in sorting any issues that might occur.
Might be a little noisy in the rooms with balconies overlooking the pool/entertainment area.
