“Stunning Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

I went to this hotel in June 2013 with my boyfriend and 2 friends and we were amazed as soon as we stepped off the coach.

The staff were all very helpful and polite and willing to help with all of our queries.

the food was always very good and always lots of variety to choose from. I think some things were lost in translation but we were never disappointed.

The numerous pool to choose from was great especially as we didn't want to be surrounded by screaming children all the time. The only grumble would be that you would have to go to the pool as soon as you had breakfast as people would put their towels down and then not use sunbed till later in the day.

Would love to come back to this hotel for another holiday and explore some more of the island.

The Baobab is a stunning hotel, perfect for a relaxing, luxury break. I've been to a few lovely hotels but this was first one that left me desperate to return. The reception is like nothing I've seen, grand but in a unique way, huge, whilst still being warm, comfortable and welcoming with a set up that sets it apart from the marbled pillars and floors of so many others. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, typical of the staff at the hotel, all of whom were great throughout our stay.

The rooms are gorgeous, spacious and well equipped with two big comfy beds, a sofa, lots of drawers and cupboard space, big balconies, tastefully designed in a modern style with an African twist. The bathrooms are a joy, huge bath, which we never used because the shower was heaven, never wanted to get out from under it.

The pool scene is mind blowing. There are at least four pools, with the lazy river a tranquil haven, as is the half moon infinity pool. The beach area by reception was our favourite, with room to swim, float about, play ball or just sit, watch and chill (we did a lot of that). The hotel was full during our stay but we always secured a sun bed with a shade. The pool bar with a waterfall was a great lunchtime spot.

The food was superb. I cant believe any one would be unhappy with the choice available at breakfast or in the evening and whilst the restaurant was busy it was always immaculately clean and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Service was excellent.

The Hotel is cosmopolitan with many nationalities staying, I'd estimate a third of the guests were British, a third German and the rest Spanish which was a really nice mix. The age range was great also, with lots of us middle aged types mixing with young couples and families which created a really nice ambiance in the evenings.

The bars were busy at night, but not too packed and the house ban were pleasant enough. The evenings shows were mixed but there was a choice of things to do in the evening. Many people seemed to take advantage of the free wifi whilst drinking the cocktails. Drinks weren't cheap but were reasonable for a five star hotel.

The resort was really classy with lots of designed shops. The promenade (gentle ten minute stroll) was clean and smart and it was beautifully relaxing to sit in a hammock in a beach front bar watching the world go bye. One thing that was strange was the lack of a decent music bar. The place is crying out for a bar playing music, live or videos for the younger visitors and there is a killing to be made for an entrepreneur with a vision. The beach was Sandy and looked clean, though we didn't really spend any time there.

All in all I had a fabulous holiday with a wonderful, lovely lady in an idyllic setting. What more could you ask for? Another week perhaps.

We checked into this hotel and were so elated with the amazing eye candy everywhere!! The hotel is so grand, modern, and has amazing finishes and furnishings everywhere. We read online reviews and took the suggestion of getting a deluxe suite view room. Our room looks over the lazy river and sand dunes. I just watched the most amazing sunrise from my bed. This room has the best view in the place. Our balcony is huge, the room is very clean, and the bathroom was huge and has a great modern design.
The service is great here. The pool is HUGE and amazing. There are several restraunts and bars on site and my husband and I had fun hopping from bar to bar and taking in the different settings! It is a short walk down to the main town and shops/waterfront from the hotel and it is a very convenient location.

Room Tip: ask for the deluxe suite view room that looks over the lazy river. I just saw the most amazing sunri...

Last year we loved this hotel and couldn't wait to return. It was gorgeous, serene, and stylish.

This was not the case this year. Don't get us wrong, we did enjoy ourselves, but it was very very different. It was more like an old Butlins - very busy, tons of children everywhere, and really noisy - more like a kids playground. We think it might just be down to size and numbers really. But it felt much quieter and ran smoother last year, although it was exactly the same time of year for both visits.

Breakfast and dinner were like King's Cross Station in the rush hour! The food was ok, but could have been much better. Food was not nearly as good as it was last year. The waiters and staff were all excellent and we really couldn't fault any of them. They all worked so hard, we're all so polite, pleasant and smiled all the time. Generally staff were brilliant all across the resort for our whole stay.

The pools last year were quiet and relaxing; this year it didn't quite feel like that so much at all. It was noisy, children running around and adults shouting across to them from their sunbeds all the time. We had no problems getting sunbeds on any of the 14 days that we were there. There is a quiet adults-only area pool, but it is on a less attractive and less sunny side of the hotel, and feels grotty and shut away around the back. We thought that the kids pool should have been put there instead.

The wifi last year was dreadful.(Double superior). This year it is as no better. (Double deluxe pool). We had a perfect signal in Vietnam and in Thailand, both for free. At the Baobab it cost 78€ for 14 days, for virtually no signal in the room, in 2013! We had to walk around the room, holding the ipad up in the air and wait 3-4 minutes for a page to refresh. Not good! We were given it for half price because the manager acknowledged how bad it was. This is such an easy thing to resolve and cheap too so it is beyond comprehension why they don't sort it out. How they host conference and business guests we don't know.

The rooms are good, not great. Towels are thin and need replacing badly, as does the bedding. Air conditioning is very good. Rooms are cleaned well, but toiletries are never replaced unless you specifically ask for things, and even loo roll is frugally supplied! On our last day, we returned to the room at 11am to freshen up, only to find that it had been cleaned and prepared for the next people, when checkout was supposed to be 12pm. The reception staff apologised profusely but this really just should not have happened in a supposedly 5* hotel!

Amazingly, there are still only news tv channels for English speaking guests, which must be half of their customers! There are tons of German, Italian, etc channels. Melia have English channels so why can't Lopesan?

This is a shame. Lopesan have obviously changed their marketing demographic and target customers. Good luck to them. We might come back but not as sure as we were last year when we couldn't wait to return. If you read our review from last year you will see how much we loved the Baobab, so you can imagine how genuinely disappointed we were this year and we really do feel that the cost is now not justified for the product supplied.

A last minute booking in May which turned out to be one of the best decisions we had ever made. From the moment we entered the resort we knew that we were in for something special.
Sounds of African animals resound from all areas, making you think that an elephant or monkey will appear.
The reception staff were very well organised and allocated our room swiftly, informing us that we had been upgraded to a balcony room.
As we walked to our room we heard various animal noises then went along wooden bridges, lots and lots of foliage, watery pools and as if this was not surprising enough many unusual African inspired pieces of art.It wowed us from the start.
Our room was very large with a huge double bath, double sink and flat screen television.Downside was the lack of English channels. It had excellent air con.cleaned to a high standard.
We were half board and found the food extremely good.....plenty of choice at breakfast and in the evening,a welcoming atmosphere at any time of day.
The outside spaces were awe inspiring .9 swimming areas and a lazy river(We did feel that it was filled too full ,better if it had been waist high). Two pool areas were beach- like with sand and waves........How fabulous for the children that went there.
There were plenty of games for the children supervised by plenty of adults.
Despite the children's presence ,adults had plenty of chill -out spaces where we could relax and enjoy our week. The resort is able to cater for all needs in an easy going, happy atmosphere.
Sun beds were plentiful and comfortable throughout the various spaces.
The artistic nature of these areas were very unusual and creative.Whoever, designed this resort is first class from the large African Lit up Baobab trees to the cut logs for seating.Every toilet area was also African inspired and different from each other.
Prices for drinks offered good value for money compared to other 5star hotels.
The Wifi was not always available ,hopefully,it will improve.
The Meloneras area is very chic with lovely walks along the front by the sea.The Lopesan is ideally
situated as it is a 5minute walk to the front.Plenty of supermarkets close at hand and lovely bars and cafes.
There is even an open air cinema just a short stroll away. They even provide duvets when it gets cooler. It is very different and an unusual experience.
On Saturday, there is market held in PuertMorgan. The local bus or taxi will take you there.A very pretty place full of lovely shops ....the market sells different crafts, clothes, jewellery etc one of the better markets we have been to.
All in all,an excellent resort. It is so good,we have booked again this year.Highly recommended.
Two happy ladies

This hotel is absolutley incredible, the best we have ever stayed in. Your MUST go!

Me and my boyfriend went for 10 days, as soon as the coach pulled up our first impressions were 'WOW' it really is breathtaking. on arrival our suitcases were taken and we were greeted by friendly staff and a cocktail. Again, the rooms were stunning with a great view and we both loved the walk in shower/wet room.
The African theme is great, not tacky at all. If you think the pictures look good, believe me, you've seen nothing until you see it with your on eyes.

When it comes to breakfast or dinner I have to say I was in food heaven! Everything you want they have. It was cooked to perfection, fresh in front of you and they have something different every night so you definitely won't get bored of eating there! Waiters/waitresses are always making sure you glasses are kept full and are very friendly and helpful.

The only thing we both could fault on was the entertainment. Not what you'd expect for a 5* hotel. A couple of nights we walked off because it was that bad. But if the entertainment on the main stage doesn't suit you, the bar upstairs has great live music and is much better.

Was sad to come home but we will definitely be coming back here again!
