“Enjoyable stay, good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

I booked this hotel through work as an alternative to the ones I normally use as I wanted a change. In my opinion it was great! The rooms were fine, not spectacular but then neither was the price. The spa facilities, pool, sauna and jacuzzi included in the price was such a bonus to me after a day at work and they were very well maintained and clean. The food in the restaurant was beautifully cooked (I had the same meal twice as it was so nice) and the choice to take away your breakfast from the cafe was an added bonus when in a rush. Ok, so it's a little dated, and probably not the best place to stay if you are on a romantic weekend break but for me it was ideal. The staff in the restaurant were lovely and service was good overall tho the cafe bar staff were not trained that well in customer service. One girl kind of grunted at me and seemed as though I was an inconvenience but the 2nd morning made up for that by a very smiley helpful girl who made up for the previous one.
I will book here again on future business trips to Warrington as for me it ticked all the boxes for a place to relax after work. I also slept really well in a very comfy bed. I think it was around £75 a night which compared to other places I normally stay bore no comparison in terms of great value for money.

Very dated accommodation inadequate facilities in today's climate. When we arrived none of the available facilities were offered to us by reception staff, rooms were lacking nO remote for tv , no hairdryer as described. We did book this through a groupon deal and would have been extremely upset if we'd paid full, the description of the hotel indicated it was child friendly we didn't find this to be the case. The only plus nice pint of lager

Went for a spa day and had the best spa experience ever. Must admit, I'm a bit of a spa junkie! Found the whole day really relaxing and all the staff were so helpful. The facilities were great and the therapists excellent - definately will be returning!

We stayed over at this hotel as part of a groupon offer and found it to be excellent value for what we paid. Yes, we were placed in a room which wasn't a newly refurbished room however it was totally clean and comfortable, especially as we use ten pound of the £15 credit to upgrade to a king size bed. We had a lovely bath and separate shower, the only downside of the room was a tiny old telly, but we got comfy on the floor at the foot on the bed and could see it! We booked a table for the steam, bake and grill and really enjoyed the gorgeous food. We paid £80 for a three course meal, with wine and water and felt really looked after by the staff, which for us was a bit of a splurge but since the room was so cheap we didn't mind paying it at all. We had a look at the swimming pool and spa but didn't visit or have breakfast because we had a good lie in in that king size bed. We really enjoyed our stay and it is perfect to venture out and about from, being straight on the motorway. Thanks!

The front of the hotel looked promising as did the reception area, however when we arrived in our room it was very dark and smelt of damp.
The bathroom was clean but very dated and the plug was blocked so whilst having a shower you end up standing in a pool of water.
The TV only had three channels - ITV1, BBC2 and Skysports so the choice was pretty limited.
The room was very warm and the air con didn't work and to have a light on you either had to have all the lights on or none (even the bathroom light).
However, the bar area was lovely as was the restaurant and the food was very nice and quite reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We got a cheap deal and so all in all would rate the value for money as average, but we're in no great rush to return.

I booked this hotel on a groupon voucher, for the pricely sum of £39 for 2 adults and 2 children. I paid an extra tenner to upgrade to a family room, which was the only bonus to this stay. The room was very large, which was in its favour, but thats about it. It was extremely dated, and extremely dirty!!!! We attempted to turn the heating down to zero, but still found ourselves being cooked like chickens and got very little sleep indeed....thats not to mention the air beds that the children slept on that squeaked every time they moved. The children were excited about going in the pool, which I have to say was like a murky pond, extremely small, the changing rooms were tatty and also very dirty,,, I didnt even go in the shower after being in the pool, as that was dirtier still. We decided not to eat in the restaurant as wasnt sure if that would be the same as the rest of the hotel, so had our evening meal at a local pub instead. I did complain the next day to the reception staff who said they were sorry that we hadnt enjoyed our stay, but got the feeling they were on auto pilot, having heard all this before..I have stayed at many De Vere hotels, and De Vere villages and must say that if this was someones first visit to a De vere establishment they would never book with another...This is a great diservice to De Vere as on the whole they are a good chain...But seriously you need to sort this place out!!

Room Tip: Do youreelf a favour.....and DONT

It's a dated hotel with ageing fixtures and fittings. The restaurant is pleasant enough, but the staff lack any enthusiasm to serve, much like the reception personnel. It does, however, have a good gym and swimming pool, and I generally stay at the De Vere because of that. If you’re prepared for a below par hotel, it’s actually alright.
