“The Perfect Nica Experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2006

The tree house accommodations were fantastic. Falling asleep and waking immersed in the sounds of the jungle with the ocean surf crashing in the distance is simply amazing. We felt like we were staying with friends, lounging around the common deck was great and we always felt welcome and comfortable. We had dinner each night with the owners and other guests. Our hostess’ cooking was impressive, I couldn’t get enough.

BVSC is off of the beaten path, nature-conscience, rustic and comfortable. If you enjoy the outdoors and don’t need TV or AC during your stay, this is the place for you.

We stayed at BVSC one week in August after touring through Nicaragua. We absolutely enjoyed sleeping in the magnificently designed tree huts. No better place to relax after a day of surfing than the high terrace overlooking the pacific. The owners are very friendly and resourceful about San Juan del Sur and surroundings and take excellent care of their guests (including the tasty meals that are prepared throughout the day!).

We especially enjoyed falling asleep with the ocean swell in our own private 'jungle cabin' and the morning call of the neighbouring howler monkey family above our heads.

Maybe this experience is more for the 'adventurous minds' (for those that can do without airco, that is)... but if you're in for a beautiful and private scenery, one of Nica's best surfing spots and a great atmosphere this is the place to pick!

What isn't there to say about the BVSC. It was a terrific tree house experience with an overwelming view of the Pacific Ocean. I think the most comforting part was that the information given on their web page was right on point, for example, the pictures posted on the page are exactly what you get. Besides the hospitality of our new found Dutch friends; the qualities of life were found right there in the BVSC. Did I mention that she is an AMAZING COOK??? I walked away from the vacation relaxed and wishing I could stay longer. Now this may not be a place for everyone(which they tell you themselve), but its modern yet classical appearance explains it all. You can find the comforts of nature surrounding you (Monkey's right out side your door, owls, and the sounds of water) and the joys of life within the BVSC. I would highly recommend this place if you are willing to experience something relaxing, peaceful, and a step away from everyday life. As a hair stylist I have recommended this place to many of my clients and will continue too.

The design of BVSC is very dramatic, with an expansive deck overlooking the trees and the ocean beyond. (Hopefully no one will ever lose their footing too close to this uncontained deck's edge. ) The hip young Dutch couple behind this "resort" are friendly and eager to make your stay enoyable. However...the open cabins are set too low in the trees to receive any ocean breeze, which made our stay in May very uncomfortable. The room beneath the main house, where our kids stayed, was like an oven, even during the 2 hrs. of the day when the generator, and therefore the fans, were running. The water pressure is weak. The food was unquestionably subpar - lunch, which our hosts graciously delivered to us at Playa Madera, 5 min. away from the resort, consisted of processed ham and cheese, cold fried eggs, or leftover chicken breast on dry bread. Ten dollars per person. Guests do not have access to the kitchen at BVSC and our hosts mentioned instances of food-poinsoning from the only restaurant nearby (at Playa Maderas). We left BVSC early, having paid for our stay anyway, and spent the rest of our time in San Juan Del Sur in a beautiful house overlooking the ocean, with a pool, a cook, and A/C. It was significantly cheaper.
