“Fantastic Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Stayed here 2nd week in January with two friends. Snow conditions weren't ideal which we knew prior to flying out, so it was important the Hotel was up to scratch. It was, and then some.
This hotel might have 3 stars to it's name but is surely worth 1 more.
Previous reviews have indicated tired rooms but the Hotel is refurbing, so we just asked for two of these when we booked and were pleasantly surprised by the size and standard.
Food is buffet style and very good. Having gone Club Med before we were used to this and was of a similar standard. (fantastic array of cheeses).
Bar and lounge area was well designed (comfy chairs, rustic seating, and tables and chairs all surrounding a central bar). Great service at the bar, although I will admit it wasn't that busy the week we were there.
Boot room was surprisingly relaxed in the mornings considering it's size. Only down side was the lack of boot warmers.
Great plus for this Hotel is the Ski rental shop is attached. No hassle at all.
You do have to get the bus service to the main lifts so we're not talking ski in ski out, but we never waited more than a few minutes outside the Hotel for a bus to come along.

This hotel is very good value, punching above it's weight, with friendly customer service.
It,s an all year round Hotel and from what I experienced I would happily go back one summer

Good location, 10 mins walk to centre of town and ski bus stops outside. Rooms were clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed the meals. Evening meals in particular were very enjoyable with a good choice and breakfast was continental style with the bread, ham and cheese and you could boil your own egg and there was omelette one morning also.

the animation/entertainment team were excellent and put so much effort into the shows each evening. Four young people who really did entertain us and made the holiday.

we really enjoyed the gala evening and another poster mentioned they didn't go as they didn't like Foie gras but this wasn't served at our dinner. We had an excellent meal and entertainment.

For the price we paid for this hotel it was a real gem and I would have no hesitation at all to stay again. Very friendly and helpful staff.

A group of 10 of us stayed in Jan 2014 on a skiing trip. Weren't sure about the hotel but were very pleasantly surprised.
Good rooms, good buffet food with unlimited wine. Food was very good, steak, chicken, salmon, etc every night with the Italian Night really good.
There is entertainment each night, surprisingly good for different nationalities, the 4 entertainers put on fantastic, fun shows.
Stretching class very good after skiing. Pool and spa are good with classes during the day for non skiers.
2 bus stops away from Super Morzine, bus stop at front door.
Would definitely stay again.

We stayed at Le Cret with another couple of mixed skiing ability and we all loved it!
Location
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the village without skis but the ski bus service is very efficient leaving from immediately outside the hotel and dropping by both of the 2 main lifts. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. The village is much bigger than I remember (I worked in Avoriaz 30 years ago!) and it's worth taking a stroll down there for a fun selection of bars, shops, restaurants and atmosphere.
Hotel Rooms
We seemed to get an upgraded room with a room with double bed and a second room with twin beds - really lucky as my husband wasn't well so we actually used both rooms. Separate loo and bathroom with shower/bath. All very clean and serviceable - exactly what you need on a ski holiday.
Hotel Facilities
The bar is really nice with 3 separate seating areas: one which was used for many of the entertainments such as quizzes, one quieter area and another with tables and chairs which guests mostly used for playing cards after dinner. Our bar bill was pretty reasonable for a ski resort.
Restaurant
Buffet breakfast with eggs only, otherwise a good selection of continental items such as breads, croissants, pain au chocolat, ham, cheese, cereals etc.
Buffet dinner with fab selection of salads, meats etc to start, choice of main course/vegetables and puddings plus the most wonderful cheese selection every night - the highlight for us!
Wine included with dinner that you serve yourself from a tap - quite drinkable without being anything special.
You are assigned a table for the week which is helpful - if you are by the window in the 'glasshouse' part you may be chilly - take something warm to wear just in case.
You can book for a raclette or fondue at the basement restaurant - again not terribly warm until the burners get going! Lovely fondue, cold meats and salad. Recommended.
Gala Night
We didn't do the gala night as we're not big fans of foie gras or hotel entertainment. Although we were told the normal buffet would be on offer if we didn't do the gala night there were so few (all Brits!) not going to the gala night we ended up with the gala meal in the main restaurant. We refused the foie gras and they brought us lovely plates of smoked salmon so a result!
Spa and Pool
We didn't use the pool but it looked much nicer than in the pictures. We did use the steam room and jacuzzi which was well-used throughout the week without being too busy. The hotel offers paper dressing gowns to buy for €7, otherwise you can change there. It's worth taking flip flops or similar for walking through the hotel to the spa.
Staff
All very friendly and helpful. The reception staff speak pretty good English.
Ski Lockers
Smallish and worth taking a padlock or you can hire one there for a deposit. Not a lot of room for ski boots in the lockers so most people took them to their rooms. No heated boot driers.
Hotel Entertainment
Not really our bag but it was easy to avoid in January - possibly harder when the hotel is full of children during the school holidays.

All in all a lovely hotel and we only wish it could be reproduced in other French resorts at this quality and price.

Just returned from a holiday in the Alps which included a week at the Le Cret. This hotel is really a holiday camp for the French and includes all day games and classes in French. Our main concern with the hotel was the building site across the road where they started work at 7.00 am in the morning and finished at 7.00 pm. The noise was so bad that we couldn't use the balcony in our attic bedroom. Our room was nothing like the brochure pictures and was basic with camp style beds and dirty stained carpet. We were given the chance to move but all rooms we saw were the same. Breakfast was plentiful if a little boring but the evening buffet we were promised never materialised and plated meals were given on a 'take it or leave it' basis. The hotel sits in a large garden plot with outdoor games and pool (although this was closed because it had been emptied by mistake!) All in all we were very disappointed with this hotel. It is slightly out of Morzine (about 10 minutes walk to the centre) and, because of the building site, not a relaxing experience. Go to another hotel if you get the chance.

Room Tip: There is a new block away from the road which may offer a better night's sleep.

We stayed here in March for a week, it was a last minute booking and so we got a decent deal for the area. What a great find it turned out to be, the hotel's clientele appears to be predominantly French, so if it's good enough for the locals we thought it must be ok. It was more than ok, from the rooms, food, wine, free WiFi, facilities and accessibility to slopes and village you'll not go far wrong with booking this hotel.
SERVICE
The service provided was better than any ski resort hotel we've stayed in, we had a really friendly and approachable waitress at dinner, I believe she was Canadian, forgive me I can't remember her name, but she was very helpful when needed.
ROOMS
The room we had was slightly dated but was still very comfortable and clean, I understand they have renovating some rooms, so it's a working progress. Bath with shower, slight moan the shower was at low level, so you had to hold it when showering, a bit of a pain, plenty of hot water though so no big deal and a separate toilet, small flat screen tv with USB input that works for films/ video in case you fancy a night in. Free WiFi throughout the hotel this includes in your room.
FACILITIES
Facilities in the hotel include a spa area with large jacuzzi, Turkish bath/steam room, sauna, pools with spa jets. It you get back a bit earlier theirs hardly anyone in, also you can get pool towels from reception. Small bar area and entertainment, gala meal each week, you can do this instead of the main restaurant, it was very nice but the entertainment was something to be desired, it was a giggle if anything else!
FOOD/DRINK
Breakfast was more on the continental side with boil your own eggs, pain a chocolate, croissants, fresh bread, cereal etc and great coffee and Tropicana orange juice! More than enough to get you through the day.
Evening meal
1 word 'brilliant' lots of choices; starters included a cold buffet with salmon, parma ham, lots of different salads, soups and more. Mains; steaks, fish, chicken, pasta, different veg and potatoes, they always had a special on include French stews, carved to order fillet steak ( quite rare). Dessert; all made fresh on site I believe just including prof roles, choc mousse, mini tarts, lemon tarts, and many more. Also fruit, yogurts, ice cream, lots of smelly cheese and fresh bread. Just generally so much good quality food, cooked to a high standard I couldn't believe it.
You also get free wine with your meal, it's as much as you like, red, white and rose. You get from some barrels/taps in the main restaurant and its very drinkable. You can also get free water and orange juice with your meal.

Though we got a great last minute deal on this break we would pay more to stay in this hotel, why it's only rated 3.5 stars in the brochure, can only be down to the room standard because everything else was excellent.

A small note on Morzine; this hotel is a flat 10-15 minute walk into town, the hotel run a shuttle but the bus stop is directly outside the hotel and runs every 10 minutes for most of the day, I believe it's the yellow and blue route and its covered with your lift pass. The village is lovely though eating out is pricey, drinks out reasonable.

The slopes are ideal for beginners and intermediates, lots of blues, nice and wide and not to busy, we we're lucky and had lots of fresh snow while there over night. I'm a bit better than a beginner and found this area really well suited to my needs and my more advanced husband was more than happy with the vast surroundingski area to explore.

Room Tip: Exceptional evening meals. Free wine, water, juice with dinner. Great spa facilities. Free WiFi t...

My son and I have been here three ski seasons running - we love it; maybe the rooms are bit tired, but they are a good size, and everything works in them. The food is great, the ambiance is friendly and accommodating. I also love the massage on-site: it's reasonably priced and just great after a day's hard skiing.
Recommended and really, inspite of the what the reviews say, the kids are rampaging around the place and they just blend into the hotel which shows the best side of Frency hospitality and service.
