“Fantastic hotel, dedicated and friendly staff, good location my 5th stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2011

Great place to stay Claire and her staff work hard to make you welcome. Claire within hours knows everyone by their 1st names and creates a truely friendly atmosphere. It is close to the Super Morzine lift. Hiring a locker, for your skiis/boots, at the Huber Sports shop (almost next to Super Morzine) means you can walk easily to and from the hotel in ordinary shoes. The rooms we stayed in were clean and made up every day, I was perfectly happy with them. The food was good. The hotel is clean and well maintained. I have stayed there five times now and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all.
I lked best the atmoshere and all the staff for their friendliness and willingness to to help.
I liked least having to leave!
Robert

We stayed at the Beau Regard for only two nights from the 6th Feb. The owner was very nice and the food was ok. However, our friends staying in room 315 found the hotel owners husband on his knees peeking through a hole in there door at 1230 am. The door and frame had been carved out to give a view of the bed. On inspection of other rooms in he morning (including ours 316), the same carved marks were found and where the bed was in a different place, holes were found in the doors to provide views of the bed.

The owners husband claimed he was fixing the light switch (at 1230 am) and dropped his screwdriver, hence why he was on his knees!!!! Cyrstal Ski Holidays moved us to another Hotel, but did tell us they would not allow any further bookings at the hotel until the many doors and frames were fixed, so beware if you stay here and check for carved marks in the door frames and doors.

CrystalSki, Tour Operator at Beau Regard Hotel, responded to this review, February 24, 2011
The police were called as a result of this allegation and found no evidence to support it whatsoever. The guests in question were moved at their request. The damage to the doors was found to be purely due to wear and tear and all doors have now been repaired.
Crystal has long enjoyed a successful relationship with this popular hotel and will continue to do so.

Located only a short distance from the suspension bridge next to the Super Morzine bubble so excellent provided that you are not on a package with pre-book lessons which take place on the Pleney side of Morzine which means a trip across town each day. Fortunately we did not have lessons but others in the hotel did and were moaning about the morning trip.

The food each night is very good although there is no choice so you either eat it or go hungry or fill up on bread or eat snacks in the room. Breakfast is more than adequate. The egg timers are great as they cluck like chickens which amused the children both young and old each morning.

The down side to the hotel is that the public areas are fine with a small pool in the winter (very cold), a pool table, a table tennis table, table football, a sauna (extra cost), some weights and a bar but the rooms are very tired and need updating or at least redecorating. I have stayed here 2 years with my teenage son and it is fine for us as we just use the room for sleeping but you would not want to spend any longer than necessary in the rooms.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes but with a couple of provios. If you don't have pre-booked lessons and will spend little or no time in the rooms, yes otherwise probably not.

This was our honeymoon, We had a fantastic stay in this well ran family hotel. Clare and her husband run a friendly, welcoming hotel with dedicated hard working staff. Our room had just been recently renovated and was clean, tidy and comfortable, One area that would have improved the experience would have been the addition of a kettle to the room so you could make a well deserved cuppa after a hard day on the slopes. This aside the hotel was more than comfortable and the food was absolutely remarkable. Worthy of a higher star rating than it has been awarded. The hotel is well situated with the super morzine cable car just a short walk across the bridge and is on the bus route to other slopes. Madame Claire gives 110% to making sure that her guests have a memorable and happy stay. Would definately recommend to a friend and given the opportunity to return wouldnt hesitate in choosing this hotel over others.

This is a very reasonable hotel for the money! The food is all home cooked by the proprietor and his wife runs the place. They both put a lot of effort into making it homely and welcoming. Did I say already that the food was great?

The pluses:

Nice home cooked food, buffet breakfast with a good selection, toaster and egg boiler (interesting contraption). Evening meals were limited choice, but all good.

Comfortable lounges and small bar.

Not too far to walk to the first ski lift (Super Morzine bubble) or into town. The main Morzine lift is on the other side of town, but there is a small FREE train from one to the other.

The minuses:

The rooms were very poor, with damp patches on the walls and only just enough room to get in and out (not that you need a ballroom).

The swimming pool is one third (or less) indoor and the rest is outside. Great in the summer I imagine, but in the winter the doors are closed and you can only gain access to a very small (unusable) portion of the pool. So don’t look forward to a relaxing swim after a hard day on the slopes.

Not a bad holiday, but I don’t think I will go back to Morzine (overpriced for what you get). We went on a day trip to Les Gets and that was much nicer with lots more going on.

'Concerned' does not quite sum up how we felt having read the reviews of Hotel Beau Regard on this site, we even rang our tour operator to see if we could change hotels - am I glad we couldn't!

What a great place; tremendous food (the daily cheese selection was wonderful), incredibly friendly staff, a superb boot and ski store and, while it may have benefitted from a lick of paint here and there, our room was more than adequate for our needs and we enjoyed the space it provided - the bed was comfortable and the half bath/plunge pool was particularly welcome at the end of a day's skiing!

There is a 5-10 minute walk to the lifts from the hotel which is not ideal, and you do feel a little isolated from the main area of the town - although it's only a 5 minute walk (out of ski boots) the fact that you have to cross a long foot bridge makes it feel like more of a trek. However, the bus service from outside the hotel is very efficient and takes you into town or in the opposite direction to the heart of the Portes du Soleil - we caught the service to and from the lift at Ardent on more than one occasion and would recommend others do the same.

I have trouble understanding some of the complaints that have been aired in previous reviews, if you want to be in the lap of luxury then pay more! This hotel is a real bargain and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
